And the democrats will get what...75% of the Jewish vote even though their support of Israel is tepid at best.
Dubya meets with Jews, accepts commemoration from them, dines with them, but won't meet with NAACP. I think thats funny! Maybe I shouldn't, but I do.
It's a smaller and smaller number every year. In my grandfather's day, it would have been 95%, and in my father's, 85%. The younger the Jew, the more likely he is to subscribe to conservative ideals.
One of the most right wing people I know is a young Jewish partner in my company, an atheist unfortunately, but culturally Jewish and a rock ribbed Republican.
This is a particularly important trend, as Jewish people have historically provided much of the financial and organizational and ideological underpinning of the Democratic party. If we can peel off even half of them, we will inflict a grave wound on the Left.

The winds of change are blowing for the American Jewish vote. It's more like 60-65% for the Democrat "traitor/treason" Party. Some good number of American Jews get it. They are slowly realizing that supporting the Democrat Party is the road to literally losing their heads and their lives. The only truly isolated group in America is American Blacks. They are lost and will not or cannot return. Sad, but true. According to the most recent Gallup poll, the race card is not working at all. With Hispanics and Asians overtaking them in political, economic and opportunity status, they are destined to be a permanently diminished political force unless they change their ways. They just don't get it. The Democrat Party and their own leaders have done them in.
Most Orthodox Jews usually vote Republican as well.

seems nowdays the left is increasingly virulently anti-Jewish and anti-Israel .. which is why I can't understand the huge support the Dems/Libs get from the Jewish community. It's nowhere near what it used to be and will hopefully change over the next generation. At which point, the Democrat party will cease to exist.
No doubt about that and the support stumps me coming from a highly educated population segment.

It's definitely true. The biggest gains the Republicans made in the Jewish vote are Orthodox (high birth rate and high education) and the young Jewish vote.
I'm almost 21, and there's never been another choice for me but the right wing.
Jews have long memories. Our parents' generation has long remembered the snubs and slights and subtle anti=Semitism of yesterday's Republicans who were primarily WASPS.
Jews prize education above all else. It was this group, heading up the major universities who had policies designed purposely to keep "those people out."
So, "those people" attended the few colleges that would admit them and made those colleges the best in the land.
Memories are long. George W. Bush is going far to right these wrongs. The fact that the Democrats no longer have a near 100% lock on Jewish voters speaks for itself.

The dems support of Israel erodes every year and their support of the rabble that looted greenhouses and burnt synagogues grows.
But don't write off American Jews yet. I personally know Jews who are waking up to the nightmare that is the American left. And leftist Jews are usually JINO..a lot of atheists. President Bush is right to court them..there is a lot of conservative potential here.
That is true, and it is to America's shame that it took so long.
I think to the extent that it occurred, it was an echo of the European past, in the hidebound cities of the East. Out here in the West, the pioneers could not afford such luxuries as snobbery and discrimination, and every man was dealt with on his own merits.
In the last half-century, practically all the remaining barriers to full integration have fallen. As they do, and as Israel's position becomes ever more precarious, I think American Jewry (especially religiously observant Jews) is going to realize that the only really dangerous anti-Semites are among the Democrats.

and orthodox Jews are by far the largest growing segment of American Jews.
at 5-8 children per family they are probably one of the fastest growing segments of America (percentage wise at least) they are still only a couple of hundred thousand strong and in very concentrated areas--Jersey, NYC, Baltimore and a few others but could have significant impact in elections.
