I am all for exploration if it leads to exploitation and colonization. If we are going just so that the science geeks can take pictures and bring back rocks like last time, its a waste of time and money.

Exploration enables science.
Scientists are not running NASA now.
This isn't Carl Sagan's NASA anymore.
