Oh yeah, to avoid offending anyone lets make sure our coast guard is completely unarmed when they confront drug runners and terrorists, and hey let's stop enforcing our laws and trying to stop illegal activity and security threats. How about disarming our police too.

Isn't it more than a little insane to compare this to death squads in argentina? Such whining!

Or maybe how bout a warrant?

Amendment IV:
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Nah, that far too constitutional...

Warren said the officers were attempting to ensure the safety and compliance of docked boats by checking for oily water in their bilges and that their sanitation devices were in locked position. Some searches were conducted at night in an effort to catch boats before they went onto the bay for the weekend.

Yep....them dang terrorists might not have their "head" devices locked into position.....

I'd say that's a good idea if they start busting into homes with M16's to perform 'safety' inspections.

If it'd really been like Argentina TSR would have been taken out of there on short helicopter ride and then dropped into the ocean from a couple of thousand feet.

We'd never heard him whine.

Which means, of course, that it wasn't like Argentina at all!

Family members of the "Coast Guard" should be subject to random searches with loaded machine guns pointed at them. This should take place at random times throughout the night or day. If this treatment is good enough for average citizens, it is good enough for the families. Just chalk it up to sensitivity training for the Homeland Security workers.

A live-aboard boat is a man's home; when docked it should be treated by all LEOs the same as any residence.

I don't believe constitutional protections foresaw such behavior as this.

An official explanation should be forthcoming if this report is correct in its details.

I beginning to think we are about to go over the edge.

Well, at least two of us agree on this. Good grief, everything from the administration is compared to Nazi's. It appears this nation learned nothing from 911, including many around this place.

I suspect that you would change your tune if a dozen uniformed officers armed with automatic weapons and a vehicle mounting a belt fed machine gun banged on your door and demanded to search your home in the middle of the night; officers, I might add, who have the authority to confiscate your home and everything in it or completely destroy it in the process of a "Search" and leave you standing in the street in your pajamas.

No warrant or probable cause required.

That is the authority the Coast Guard has over live-aboard boaters. There is no recourse, no appeal.

I see you Law & Order "conservatives" wasted no time in showing up. I'm sure that when heavily armed men start ordering you and your family about on your own boat and invade these premises after lying their way on board, you'll roll over and submit, eh?
