Sarasmom didn't understand my comment and I didn't undestand why she said what she did, which you seemed to agree with. My original comment in #3, I believe was meant sarcastically in response to something in one paragraph of the article, which reads,
"Still, there are limits to what can be done. One way to curb poverty would be tougher immigration policies that kept out the new poor."
There were other comments which followed by myself and others discussing what it costs, for example, to immigrate to Australia or New Zealand.
There was nothing said about anyone of a derrogatory nature. If you look at my name that should give you some indication that I am bi-lingual and interested in the culture of others. I hope this clarifies what I meant. It is important to me that I am not erroneously tagged as prejudiced or anti-immigration or anything of that nature because that is not the case at all.

Illegal Mexican workers are not the "new poor". They come here to work. Many work hard and send what they can back to support their families. They know what real poverty is and appreciate what it means to have a job and work. They do not consider themselves poor. We have an underclass of about 40 million people who are subsidized by the government, our so-called "poverty" class, with many able bodied people who choose not to work. This is not real poverty. I oppose illegal immigration but I am for people who want to work and improve their lives.
