So you think that everyone who is unhappy with Pres. Bush's response to Katrina are"cowards and opportunistic?"

Since when do you have the "market" on Pres. Bush? I voted for him too, you know, twice. And so did most of the people in South MS. and South AL. But I did not appreciate the "low fly-by" while on Air Force One DAYS after the hurricane hit. I also didn't like the comment that "FEMA was doing a great job" while also listening to reports of people starving and dehydrating days later in Gulfport.

And I don't want to hear about how it is up to the local first responders....I mean, have you seen the pictures of South MS? The local infrastructure was wiped off the map!

It has nothing to do with "sticking or not sticking" with the Pres. It has to do with facts. And because I am an American citizen, and because I am a taxpayer (yes I live in the south AND pay taxes, something some people have a hard time believing) and I am a registered voter who voted for George Bush, and I have just as much right to disagree with some of things he does just as much as you have the right to agree with him.

I live in Biloxi, I voted for President Bush both times, and I have absolutely NO complaints with his response to the situation in MS.He came down here and walked the streets and talked to local "everyday" people, and I was proud that he could do so w/o having to worry about being shot by a looting thug. I was extremely proud of our Governor's response also. He didn't whine,he didn't blame,he just rolled up his sleeves and began to prioritise. Most people I know here, think the President did just fine.

It is amazing to compare TX with LA. Specifically Katrina vs Rita.

The very imporatant thing to point out is that NO CHANGE IN ANY GOVERNMENT AGENCY HAS OCCURED!

IOW: The same local and federal agencies are there. They are using the SAME PREPARATIONS.

With IDENTIAL RESOURCES compare Blanco and Nagin to ANYONE in TX.

CNN coverage is incompetent on this issue.

So do I. The federal government is not responsible for initial response. That is local and state responsibility. The feds are rightly barred from bargin in and taking over for an elected governor without the state first making th request.

In any event, the logistics of responding to such a large scale disaster make it impossible to have the equipment, material, people and supplies there instantly from the feds in any case. That will almost always take 72+ hours for such a large disaster.

The Federal government did well. Brown, who despite his background did excellent last year with the several hurricanes that hit Florida and gained invaluable experience that could have been used here...he was used as a scapegoat and that was one thing I did not like.

Sorry....you may not want to HEAR it but it is the LAW and it will take LEGISLATION by the Congress to change it!!

We are a NATION of LAWS and not of MEN!!

Good for you! No matter how the MSM tries to spin the Constitution the facts are: the onus of response and responsibility is first and foremost local and state. The federal response comes later, that include FEMA.

There are FEMA state departments in all states, offices of emergency services is what they were once called.

Blanco and Nagin have a lot to answer for because they failed in their responsibility and reactions as first responders to Katrina. The other effected states had adequate or superior local and state response to Katrina and now Rita.

The probability that the reason so many LA local and state officials are throwing blame at President Bush and the feds is because they have managed to let their corruption and incompetence to seep to the surface periodically. With the hurricanes the eyes of the world are on them and the corruption has swelled to the surface. Some of that corruption led to failed levees, lost homes and lost lives.

Let the indictments and trials begin before the money to rebuild is allotted.

Well I'm happy for you that you were satisfied. I live in George County, and I was not happy with FEMA response because they got here three weeks late. the mayor of Stateline Ms, had to call a local radio station in Mobile a week after the hurricane hit because they needed water and generators for elderly in the community who needed electricity for med. equipment. Everyone has their own opinion on how things went down. Do I need FEMA, no, but a lot of people do need help. And as I said, I din't like the fact that he did a fly by in his airpane days later, I think he could have and should responded sooner.

This is all a matter of simple math ,Democratic Governor from Louisiana +Democratic Mayor from New Orleans= Thousands needed rescued and hundreds died.Republican Texas Governor + Republican Mayors= Little if any needing rescued and a very few died.Democrats cannot lead.Republicans are leaders!NONE of this is Bush's Fault.
