Where does the Sierra Club stand on the effects of illegal immigration?

Where are the tree-huggers when you need them?

We have only ourselves, our soft spines, our jellied knees, to blame for this situation. We have only ourselves to blame for not respecting the concept of "legal" or the concept of "illegal." We ourselves have looked the other way while all sense of order has been lost and our country is no longer a country, but rather a depository, a great meeting place for all who have decided that lawless greed (in the name of "need") takes priority over order and decency. We ourselves have not made this unacceptable.

So when are the Earth-Watch types going to get out there and pick up all the trash strewn about the landscape?

They would not stand for this kind of littering in a schoolyard. What makes it more acceptable on the fragile landscape of the Sonora Desert?

Let's put the blame where it is DUE!

The illegal Mexicans are just taking advantage of Washington, and Washington is just taking advantage of us...the complacent, lazy, ignorant U.S. citizen.

Until the citizenry stands up and says NO MORE, will Washington EVER do its job for the people, instead of for the BIG BUSINESS POLITICAL CONTRIBUTIONS that are driving illegal immigration...

It appears to get worse in the cities. In heavily populated communities with Mexicans there are parks and streets polluted with fast foods trash and liquor bottles.

It's sad after many years of hearing the slogans about not polluting and keeping our environment clean. To only see the results of people who don't care about their community.

I realize it's probably a small number that give the larger community a black eye.

President Bush is the head of the executive branch. Therefore he alone is responsible for enforcing the existing immigration laws AND defending the integrity of every state's borders from invasion.

This is plainly an invasion.

Mr. President, you swore a public oath to uphold the law. We have seen how quickly you can mobilize to protect entire multi-state sections of the US border when they are threatened by massive hurricanes.

Let's see you enforce the immigration laws and secure the American border in the southwestern states. Should be a piece of cake compared with a hurricane. No excuse is going to work here.

Hey Bushbots, how can you justify the President's conspicuous failure to enforce the immigration law, all for the sake of the latino vote that he no longer needs, and was never going to get in the first place? Or, all for the sake of the approval of the Press, which he is never, ever, going to get? Or for the praise of the crybaby minorities, which he and the GOP are also never going to get. Let's get real here.

If the Congress, as a body, wants to modify existing immigration laws, well, then, let someone introduce a bill allowing more Mexicans (or whatevers) to immigrate. Pass a bill to let them all immigrate, if that is what the American people want. Really, if that is the will of the American people and their elected legislators, then, so be it.

But in the meantime, Mr. President, show a little integrity and enforce the existing law. Stop the Clintonoid fawning, approval seeking, and posturing. We've seen quite enough of it. Do your job, the one you swore you would do, and quit pandering to people who can't and won't do you any good anyway.

Flame suit on, zot sunglasses on.

We have two neighbors that are Mexican. One side keeps their home immaculate. Gorgeous yard and such. The other side. Their yard looks fine, but they think nothing of throwing their garbage into our yard. We yelled about the kids, but it's the adults too. My usually compassionate son sick of the kids over there finally said, "I keep wondering if they are illegal." But there is no way we would know or not.
