DiCaprio is Theodore Roosevelt

Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese have been named by Paramount Pictures to respectively star and direct in the adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize-winning Edmund Morris book The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt, says Variety.

The film adaptation, currently being written by Nicholas Meyer (The Human Stain), will chronicle the political career of Roosevelt (DiCaprio), from a slight and privileged New York politician with a Harvard degree, right up to his ascension to the White House as the 26th U.S. president.

At present, DiCaprio and Scorsese are working on their third film together - after Gangs of New York and The Aviator - entitled The Departed, the Warner Bros. remake of the Hong Kong crime drama Infernal Affairs.

Yeah but De Niro and Scorcese only did movies that fit De Niros abilities perfectly, like Taxi Driver, Godfather 2, Raging Bull, Goodfellas and he turned down stuff he knew wouldn`t fit like playing Jesus in Last Temptation (as if Willem Dafoe was any better). This Decaprio stuff though is ridiculous. This guy is constantly getting cast in parts way out of his range, like casting Mickey Rooney to play Andre the Giant, and to me it`s all because they want to ride on the coattails of Titanic. They can`t let that movie go. Leo should stick to surfer dude movies.

Actually DiCaprio was very good playing Howard Hughes in The Aviator. I can see him as Teddy Roosevelt.

That's just wrong. Name trumps talent, I suppose.

This pretty-boy gets too much work in Hollywood.

Is not there someone else (possibly and "unknown") that can portray T-Rex?

I thought that Sinise is just another hollyweird leftist with a big mouth and no brains. Am I wrong here?

You forgot King of Comedy.

I don't know, I thought he was good in The Aviator. There were a lot of scenes in that movie that called for him to act alone, like the hand washing scene or after leaving the lunch with the senator, which he managed to pull off.

But even assuming that he was bad in the film, can't act and has no business in the business, he's still able to fill seats with butts. Film is now a global business and guys like Keanu Reeves (sp?) and Di Caprio have global appeal. Far more talented actors, such as Ed Norton or Val Kilmer, won't put the butts in the seats.

Let them do what they will ... I'm sure the movie will explore TR's until now unknown homosexual escapades and portray is weak and frightened side at the battle of San Juan Hill. So it's only fitting they let metrosexual dicaprio play the role.

I just hope they accurately portray Sheriff Bucky O'Neal standing atop the hill shouting orders. When encouraged by his soldiers to get down, Sheriff O'Neal responded, "No Spaniard's bullet can kill me." That was just before he took one through the back of the head.

Yup. You're wrong on this one.

Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld (right) presents actor Gary Sinese with an inscribed limestone Pentagon during a visit to the CBS studios in Los Angeles, Calif., on Aug. 4, 2005. Rumsfeld visited the CSI: New York set to thank Sinise personally for his support of the "America Supports You" program through his "Operation Iraqi Children" effort. Sinise co-founded Operation Iraqi Children with Seabiscuit author Laura Hillenbrand. The organization collects and ships school supplies and toys to Iraq for distribution by U.S. troops, providing much- needed materials for Iraqi children while boosting the morale of the service members who pass them out. The limestone used to create the memento is from the original quarry used to build the Pentagon in 1941 and to rebuild the Pentagon after the terrorist attack of Sept. 11, 2001. DoD photo by Tech.
