Ah....thanks. Sorry I missed the dance! Remember Guiliani's kid being obnoxious? What ever happened to that kid?

Knowing the liberal Stevens will NOT be the temp CJ...makes my day. John Roberts will prove to be a great CJ...17 is a perfect number. 'Number in Scripture' by E W Bullinger 17= THE PERFECTION OF SPIRITUAL ORDER.

Is it my imagination, or is Pres. Bush almost crying?

My only criticism is that Roberts should have stayed the O'Conner replacement, then have Bush nominate a no nonsense conservative as the Rehnquist replacement. Would have stood a much better chance of success.

Disagree. With your theory we might have ended up with some squishy-middle CJ. Beyond that, I have not heard any criticism from O'Connor, and I find it a very good possibility that Rehnquist had a large role in getting Roberts to the CJ before he passed on.

I'm sure you would have been much happier with Judge Stevens as the CJ.

It's a relief that we now have a new Chief Justice. I still miss Rehnquist. I pray Roberts pans out as an originalist.

is Pres. Bush almost crying

In his introduction Pres. Bush mentioned Chief Justice Rehnquist's passing. That could have been on his mind.

President Bush looks very emotional, Former Fetus. He's been under a lot of strain and still troops along, working hard and getting things done. I thank him that this vacancy was filled so quickly.

And I worry about his health: emotionally as well as physically.

Anyway I wonder what kind of influence could have his principled WIFE on his future positions in Court.

Roberts' wife is definitely pro-life. She's a former executive of Feminists for Life and their 2 children are adopted. They live the lives of dedicated pro-lifers.

Religious heavy hitters Jay Sekulow and John Leo are both convinced that Roberts is a pro-life conservative.

Thanks. Do you also know if he is against affirmative action and pro-gun?

I worry about his health

Me too! I don't understand how a man can take this stress without breaking down. Of course, we know W is a man of faith, but he needs a break. Even his vacation, as much as the Rats criticized him, was a "working vacation". May God bless and protect Pres. Bush.

I thought there would be an oath especially for members of the court, just like the President has his own oath.
