An interesting Newsweek story this week – that references CT Blog among its sources – claims scoring a point against what it paints as a “questionable” Bush administration portrayal of Abu Azzam.
In short, the authors of the article, Michael Isikoff and Mark Hosenball claim the Administration’s leaders aggrandized the real importance of the killed al Qaida commander basing their conclusion on a number of non-identified U.S. counter-terrorism officials and a report posted by our colleague Evan Kohlman on the blog. The “charge” by Newsweek is about the hierarchy of the man. Was he or was he not the “number two” of abu Mussab? In fact, the article’s real problem is in semantics.

People in Iraq knew he was number two before the Left-wing MSM could spin him as a non-number two. That knowledge had nothing to do with the administration.
If he had narrowly escaped, the lefties would be screaming about how Bush failed to capture this incredibly important Al Qaida leader.

Agreed. The Left-wing MSM is more interested in spinning the news for their own domestic agenda than to telling the obvious truth. This was a great take down. Nothing they can say can diminish it. When we get Zarquai, they'll figure out a way to say it's no biggie. I remember when it seemed like we might get bin Laden and they began to report that even if we did terror would continue. They'll never say anything to discourage the terrorists or to give them the impression we're in it for the long haul. They are practically cheerleaders for America's enemies. It's totally illiberal, but it serves their desire to get at Bush.
LMAO!!! I love how when there's good news from Iraq, the likes of Newsweek, one of the most eggregiously left wing rags in America today, immediately sets out to somehow diminish it or explain it away. They just can't stand that the US might have ANY success there. Gawd, these people will do ANYTHING to see America lose in Iraq. They are the rankest of traitors. Isakopf doesn't know sh*t about the situation in Iraq. I will stick with the officers on the scene who know of Azzam's stature and what he meant to Al Qaeda there more than some Washington hack like Isakof. Interesting that Isakoff set out to prove Al Qaeda's own propaganda that Azzam wasn't really that important.
But since Newsweek is suddenly so concerned about accuracy in reporting from Iraq, why don't they point out that the actual number of KIA in Iraq is more like 1500, not the 1900+ they like to report. They lump in over 400 deaths from accidents and illness to battle body counts. But you won't see any concern for accuracy when it comes to reporting the bad news from Iraq from these vile media pukes.

Isn't this an amazing thing for liberals and the media (same thing) to say when they CONSTANTLY beat Bush over the head over "Where's Osama?" and "Why hasn't Bush gotten Osama?" as if getting Bin Laden would end Al Qaeda and the war on terror? Yet when the administration touts a high-level capture in Iraq, the media howls that the administration is somehow trying to mislead people into thinking the war is being wrapped up. Good gawd these media manure sacks are an amazing gaggle of hypocrites. They'll run over their own rhetoric and logic to attack this president! Does ANYONE still believe we have anything like a free or fair media in this country??
