Opposing lawyers share thoughts on Schiavo case
Palm Beach Daily News ^ | October 1, 2005 | Michele Dargan

The only issue that David Gibbs can ever remember Jesse Jackson and Rush Limbaugh agreeing on was the fact that Terri Schiavo should remain alive.

...

Gibbs called removing Schiavo's feeding tube "barbaric and uncivilized." Florida law does not allow the starvation of animals and the constitution does not allow the starvation of convicted murderers, he said.

...

Felos said faith-based organizations, religious leaders, priests and rabbis distorted the facts in the Schiavo case.

...

Thank God for his children! How scarey that must be for Mr. Chambers - 58 years living w/a person who wants him dead even after he said 'he wants to live'. As Terri said, 'where there is life, there is hope'. No one listened to her either.

Did you see this yet? New Terri book: Christmas Publication Date Anticipated For "Culture of Corruption" "Culture of Corruption: The Schiavo Story", by June Maxam, a new book about the Terri Schiavo case, will soon be available only at The North Country Gazette. Pre-publication orders for the e-book are now being received at news@northcountrygazette.org

I'm glad it's coming out before our 2006 elections. Fuhrman's book wasn't political and Cheryl's book is from a medical point of view. The Culture of Corruption: The Schiavo Story will be the first about the politics.

FV says: The politics here in Florida are truly a death care system, without a vote, without a coup.

Today is the actual two years since Terri was at Morton Plant Hospital to be saved after she waited in the parking lot for what seemed like hours. They have renovated Morton Plant Hospital (was there yesterday).

FLORIDUH VOTER TAKES IN NEW KITTEN: Anyone who recalls that Terri loved animals, somebody abandoned a cute male kitten here, hoping that someone here would give him a good home. How could I not help the little guy? He's very cute and at first, I thought he was a girl. I called my mom and she stayed on the line while I did some checking. You know that sometimes, boy cats get let go but he's so young that I think I have a good shot at showing him how to behave. He was really hungry tonight. His little teeth aren't strong enough to eat dry cat food yet but he went for the sliced chicken and gravy. He quit crying after that.

I'm going to call him "Newbie".

Remember Terri said "Where there's life, there's hope." The little guy is definitely full of life. I forgot what kittens could do but it's all coming back to me. I'm just glad that whomever dropped him off here did so before Wilma shows up.

Little Newbie looks like a blue eyed beanie baby.

The living will can kill you. If someone changes their mind and decides they'd like to live their life to the fullest and to it's natural end, the living will can become an instrument of death waved right in their face.

In Largo at nursing homes, they actually take people's food away and the patients will ask where their breakfast is or where is their dinner? They want to eat! They die of starvation in a few weeks. This is illegal and immoral. Florida is the starvation state when someone asks for their meal and they are completely cut off from food. These people are not on a feeding tube. They take away their fork and spoon.

I have a new phone number for Congress toll free. (Congress changed their number again)

I call my Fla reps to ask for Greer to be indicted or I strongly suggest the same to the RNC. Congress toll free visit: www.conservative-spirit.org (bottom of the page).

Battaglia is portly like Florida's disgraceful, RINO Senator Jim King. Fat cats as opposed to my kitty Newbie really fit the fat cat description.

I quoted Terri just now too. Today is two years from when the United States stood tall and saved her life. And I say, the entire United States. (corruption finally killed her this year).

The dodge and weave to Winn Dixie in the blazing sun comes to mind. Did you know there's a Walgreens by the apartment complex now? And, there's a CVS across from McDonalds. (remember that Michael Schiavo got fired from McDonalds? He's not too bright, not too much brain activity going on there).

Pegita wrote a prayer for Cheryl Ford's mom. I'm going to copy it here:

Heavenly Father, we return to thank You that in everything, Your Grace is sufficient ... otherwise, we could not be sustained in the tragedies that come upon us. Pour out Your Grace upon Cheryl's beloved mother, O God, for so quickly has she been gravely injured. Knit again the bones that have been broken ... fashion again the injured tissues ... give strength to her body, that her lungs might breathe and her blood would flow. May Your healing hand rest mightily upon her ... bring her through these dark hours unto the return to health. Surround Cheryl with the Comfort of Your Presence, Merciful Father ... take from her every anxiety and replace it with absolute assurance that You are Sovereign God. Into Your Merciful Hands we commit this family, in the Name of Jesus, Amen ...

I'll take pictures of Newbie after Wilma while he's still like a beanie baby. And, he was absolutely "free". (at least until he goes to the vet and I buy him some toys, etc.)

The great channeler, Felos, channeled a search for the existence of God. He got no response, so he decided to take the job.

"They insist on wanting to kill Jimmy Chambers and he doesn't want to die, but that is irrelevant to some."

There will probably be some on FR to whom it's irrelevant. We'll see.

This may have started in FL, but now it's spread to my state. In some ways this is different than what happened to Terri. Some would say worse. Here we have a man who is clearly conscious and coherent and says he wants to live. He's artificially doped up so much that he can't say anything - meaning he can be killed then. Is this the future?

Could be, now that a probate judge gets to decide now. If I were a betting man, I'd bet that someone will claim that the Terri Schindler case is precedent to allow Jimmy Chambers to be killed against his will. Months ago, I and others predicted that the Terri case would be used a precedent to get the next legal precedent that the death culture wants --- the ability to kill someone when it's clearly against their will. That's what the stakes are here.

BUMP to #384

The three books about Terri (by Fuhrman, Cheryl, and Maxam) complement each other.

Pushing the envelope....

moral entropy

.........................

The following is a moving essay, one with which I can personally identify.

The Life That Terri Schiavo Left Behind

.........................

From the St. Louis Archdiocese, (subscription)

Although Terri Schindler Schiavo has been dead for more than six months, her memory still lives on, thanks to family members who continue to spread the message of her story.

Terri, who suffered from brain damage and died in March after her feeding tube was removed, the result of a highly publicized and embroiled family battle, was the topic of a workshop on end-of-life issues presented by her brother, Bobby Schindler, at the 29th annual archdiocesan Respect Life Convention in Downtown St. Louis Oct. 16.

Speaking to a standing-room-only crowd of more than 300, Schindler shared the timeline of the last 15 years of his sister’s life and the facts surrounding her case, which he said "were rarely reported by the media."

I was recently told by a friend, who works at a nursing home, that the elderly were slowly being moved out of the nursing facility and being replaced by aids patients. Seems that federal funding is higher for aids patients. $$$$
I suppose they're moving them to hospice but they could just be going home.

This could be a story that the Empire Journal might want to investigate.

Do you have any documentation to back this up? If so, have you reported these abuses to Adult Protective Services? If you haven't, why not?

Are you aware that neither a member of Congress nor a political party has the power to indict?

"Exactly, cause you kill the disabled, that is why!!! SHEESH!"

Do you seriously believe that natural disasters occur because a cortically-dead woman's body was allowed to expire? If so, what was the offense that precipitated the recent earthquake that killed tens of thousands of people?
