From gopandthecity blogspot:

Now, put on your tin hats...I got this email forwarded to me on Tuesday (10/4/05) from a coworker. I sent it on to Snopes and some other NYC Bloggers as a potential hoax. Look who's not laughing now.

I do not send out mass emails as games or jokes so PLEASE take this seriously. As some of you know my father works for HomelandSecurity, at a very high position and receives security briefings on a daily basis. I received a call from him Monday Oct 3, 2005 and it was a brief call and did not contain a lot of details. The only information that I can pass on is that everyone should at all costs not ride the subway for the next 2 weeks in the major areas of NYC, that means Grand Central, Times Square, Herald Square, Union Square areas. I know that seems crazy but do take his advice if at all possible. I am not at will or able to discuss anything more than that. I was not allowed to ask him any questions but he called with grave concern for the safety of myself and Heather. He said I could tell friends exactly what I have said above and that is it.
I am sorry that I cannot give any more details. He also said that he would inform me as soon as the threat at hand has passed and when we can go back to normal life.
Best wishes,

Scott at Slant Point thinks there might be something to this, if the email was not a hoax. Government insiders getting information like this days before we do.

Thanks, Jamie
Did you catch it?

An early version of this story stated that:

According to sources in intelligence, emergency services and police headquarters, when three Iraqi insurgents were arrested several days ago during a raid by a joint FBI-CIA team, one of those caught disclosed the threat.
A newer version of the exact same article states:

According to sources in intelligence, emergency services and police headquarters, the intelligence community developed information that the threat may have involved pharmacists from Iraq coming to New York for some kind of chemical attack targeting the subways.
Three insurgents, one or more of whom are pharmacists, were arrested during a raid by a U.S. military and intelligence community team, sources said, and one of those caught disclosed the threat. Because it slipped out during the arrest, the plot was deemed credible.

A joint task force of the FBI and CIA caught the terrorists. Working together.

It makes you wonder what these joint agency teams might have prevented if it wasn't for Jamie Gorelick's "wall of separation," which prevented these agencies from working together to thwart terrorist attacks in the past.

Grand Central, Times Square, Herald Square, Union Square areas.

I wonder if he just chose these as the biggest, most popular or do they have a meaning? Most of the London bombing stations like King George could have had a second meaning.
