New Orleans To Lay Off 3,000 Workers

Mayor Ray Nagin said he's worked for weeks to try to find the financing that would allow him to keep the city workers on the payroll, but...that isn't possible.

He said it's with "great sadness" that he must announce that the city can't hold onto its dedicated workers. He thanked those who've served New Orleans.

...he hopes the affected workers will "land on their feet."

Police and fire crews won't be affected by the layoffs.

Fat chance of that being the case......

Too bad that Nagin isn't Samuri (or Nixon, for that matter.....). Then he would do the honorable thing.
