"This was something else, something new and fundamentally frightening," Mapes writes. "I had never seen this kind of response to any story.

It is amazing how these elitists are shocked that everyone does not agree with their liberal viewpoints.

She must wonder how Republicans get elected - when no one she knows would vote for one...

Amazing. It's "frightening" to liberals when conservatives confront them about something they disagree with. But when liberals confront conservatives about something, liberals consider that to be "patriotism".

Something else to remember, is that CBS "news" seemed to have an agenda of running stories that it deemed harmful to President Bush in the weeks leading up to the election. It seems like there was a book published (by a company that was owned by the same parent company that owned CBS) about every other week, and that weekend, the book and author would be highlighed on 60 Minutes, in some cases, where the entire show was dedicated to the book, author, and "scandal."

And if I recall correctly, the whole "TNG Documents" deal actually broke early, didn't it? IIRC, It was supposed to come out the weekend BEFORE the election, so that the Bush administration would have no way to respond before the votes were cast. But one newspaper began leaking it, and the stuff hit the fan, and it all went to hell for Danny and CBS.

Just ask Kronkite, Mapes. He says we are all too dumb to elect the right people.
