NORMAN, Okla. (AP) -- The Pakistani roommate of a man authorities say died when he detonated an explosive device outside a crowded football stadium was led in handcuffs from a party shortly after Saturday's explosion, the head of an Islamic student group said.

Fazal M. Cheema, a finance major, shared a university-owned apartment with Joel Hinrichs III, 21, who died Saturday when a device attached to his body exploded as he sat on a bench outside George Lynn Cross Hall.

Cheema and three other Muslim students were led in handcuffs from a party by police after the blast, Ashraf Hussein, president of the Muslim Student Association, said Tuesday. They later were released...

...OU President David Boren said authorities continue to believe that Hinrichs... acted alone. He said Hinrichs' roommate, along with his acquaintances, were questioned by federal authorities...

The FBI said in a statement Tuesday that there is no current threat posed by additional explosive materials, that there is no known threat from anyone else related to the incident and that there is no known link between Hinrichs and any terrorist or extremist organization or activities...

Meanwhile, Norman feed store operator Dustin Ellison said Hinrichs attempted to purchase ammonium nitrate a few days before the explosion...a key ingredient in the 1995 attack on the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City.

The FBI told [Hinrich's father]...more high-density hydrogen peroxide was found in the apartment.

Makes no sense at all.

Unless they were living in rather more spacious quarters than most college kids are accustomed to, how would it be possible not to know what his roommate was doing, and accumulating.

And wouldn't all that stuff smell pretty bad? I wouldn't want to live in a room with all those explosives/chemicals, and I think I'd notice!

I haven't heard jack on either KRMG or KFAQ. Michael DelGiorno, our local crusader for Truth, Justice, Equanimity, Righteousness, Nobility, Humility, Charity, Chastity, Forebearance, Courage, and a whole bunch of other virtues too, obviously just doesn't know about this story. Someone oughta pick up the phone and call him.

CARBON DIOXIDE cartridge filled with gunpowder that could be detonated when connected to a power source such as the batteries Dreyling had in his electric razor and in his cell phone, which were also in his carryon bag...

One of these was found in my Brother-in-Law's apartment after he died from an epileptic seizure, made the front page of the local paper. They called the bomb squad and everything. He was a pay telephone repairman and had found it on a telephone he was repairing. He took it to his boss and his boss told him he could keep it. He was a just a packrat, not a terrorist, but you couldn't tell it by the headlines, we thought it was funny.

KFAQ does surprise me. I expect better from them.

Why is KRMG so quick to bury this? Do they have a lib track record?

P.S. I listen to KFAQ often from out-of-state (they have a strong signal).

Good points, all.

Funny, tho', isn't it, the pervasive prevalence of Pakistanis in the worldwidejihad.

KRMG aspires to be the big MSM outlet in this small market.

All I could speculate about KFAQ is that they're the local broadcaster for OU games. Personally, I don't see why that should be a problem unless they're being leaned on by the University or other interested parties. Let's get the truth out and then play ball. That's just me, though.

Interesting development. OU tightens security after whacky, quiet, well-adjusted student with room full of explosives, accidently blows self up with bomb belt in crazy, non-islamic type experiment because he tinkers and is inquizative. No danger. Just go back to what you were doing!

Doesn't make a blip on the national news.

Suicide bombers in America? Using the same ingredient as the OKC bombing? Additional bombs were located but removed (they are not ruled a "threat" because they are in posession of authorities). Did they get all of them?

Was this a "lone nut"?

Aren't they all? Charles Bishop/Bishra, the LAX shooter, the DC snipers, the anthrax mailer...

I'll be damned. KRMG isn't posting the OU bombing story either

And you are surprised....?

KRMG is at best a psuedo-conservative radio station.

FWIW-

Actually I was being sarcastic. He has his own agenda, which is to be the local contrarian to our (inept and probably corrupt) City Hall.
