I think any number of events in the 10 years at least would have to be reviewed under a new light with the power of the government and media to completely shut a major news item down being demonstrated (again).

Remember all the train derailments that have happened since then? It's reasonable to assume that derailments are going to happen for a variety of factors, but there were quite a few of them across the country, and I thought that was a little unusual.

I think it is pretty clear that on national security issues the media defers to government on how to cover stories that haven't been blown wide open, or are still initial stages of manageability. There are a number of instances of clearly newsworthy events or aspects of stories either never been covered AT ALL or being initially reported and subsequented unoccuring or moving down into 'freak accident despite eyewitness comments we are no longer mentioning' territory.
There was a piece somewhere about a recent bilderberg conference where media and government coordination after a terrorist attack was discussed, since the media understood that the initial reaction to such an event in the media was very important - witness the current event.

Yeah, it does imply that there is an invisible hand influencing the coverage decision on this. If not for this website and a single channel in oklahoma, we would know nothing of this at all, and we are a small minority.
If not for the internet, this event would never have occured except to the eyewitnesses, and even many of them would doubt what was obvoius at the time.
I think this is how they get a good percentage of their bombers.

What is your explanation for the UNANIMOUS non-coverage of this event by ANY major media organ? Note that this includes editorial staffs very favorably disposed towards the GOP and or Bush, including Fox News, the washington times, WSJ, etc.
the only media outlet discussing this is the local media co that apparently takes the event personally enough to investigate and report on.
You do know that if this kid had simply walked onto the field and shot himself during halftime it would have been on all the news channels?

Student Leader: Hinrichs Not Muslim

NORMAN, Okla. -- The president of an OU student organization said he believes Joel Henry Hinrichs III was neither a Muslim nor a visitor to local mosques.
Ashraf Hussein, the president of OU's Muslim Student Association, also confirmed that up to seven people were either questioned or detained regarding the bombing death of Hinrichs, a 21-year-old engineering student.
Reportedly, the explosive he used is very sensitive to being bumped or dropped
Alternately, he was thinking of putting it on one of the buses that were parked near him, and messed up when trying to reset the timer
Update: An OU instructor was questioned by law enforcement agencies.
