While Ike was born in Dennison Texas, he was raised in Abilene Kansas. But he was a great enough American for both states to claim him.
I've been in both towns BTW, in fact I'm sitting less than a dozen miles from Dennison as I type, while Abilene Kansas is on the way to my mother and brother's.
Abilene Texas, OTOH, is where my younger son in law is from, and where his parents still live. We won't mention where my other son-in-law is from, but his Dad is a USAF veteran.
Well let's not forget another great Texan, Maury Maverick. He was a dedicated man, wrote a newspaper collumn in San Antonio till he died; and may he rest in peace.....
