Prez's claim that Iraq is the central front in the War on Terror confirmed by al Qaida big

On July 9th, Ayman al Zawahiri, the number 2 man in al Qaida, wrote a 6,000 word letter to Abu Musab al Zarqawi, the al Qaida chieftain in Iraq. The letter was captured by U.S. forces, translated, and posted on government Web sites.

"I suspect Zawahiri intuits this. His letter — which he ends with a plea for money — is an astonishing confession of weakness."
" Al Qaida is getting creamed militarily and politically in Iraq. But as Zawahiri reminded Zarqawi: "more than half this battle is taking place in the battlefield of the media."

Exactly. And the overwhelming majority of those in the media see Pres. Bush as the enemy... which makes it obvious to everyone which side of the battlefield they're on.

The other way of putting it is that politics precedes military endeavor - Jefferson said that he studied politics so his son could study war.
"The media" - actually journalism, essentially - has almost perfectly coopted the Democratic Party; the distinguishing characteristic of all liberals is their assumption that PR is the only thing that matters in the world. In their universe it doesn't matter what is, only what is said - and how it is said. It doesn't matter if you bested me in a race, it only matters that I'm the one who reports it. I came in second, but you came in next to last!
How much have you actually heard about Afghanistan lately? In a year or so, you will hear no more about Iraq than that. No more than you heard anything of the Cold War after Reagan had won that.
