I guess I should add that I sometimes like to think. I loved Sports Night, that short-lived comedy that really was more of a dramity than a comedy since it really wasn't funny, but I liked it anyway (in one Family guy episode, they mock it with a line that goes something like "I finally get Aaron Sorkin's Sports Night; it was a comedy that wasn't supposed to be funny"). I also admit to liking Murphy Brown (am a sucker for any comedy with a media setting regardless of politics due to my background...).
But, stuff like Married with Children and Family Guy is great as well.
Can't we like all types of comedy? I do and am as socially conservative as Bozell.
But, I also can think of no Biblical reason why saying the F word is a sin. Saying the Lord's name in vain is, but not cussing. Nor is a poop joke or two.
From the KJV
But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. Colossians 3:8
Other versions use the words foul language or foul talk.
I don't generally quote scripture here, but it needs to be pointed out that there is indeed scripture that supports NOT using that sort of language. Of course, the Bible also instructs us to treat others kindly. Letting fly with the F word in public (as happens so often these days) in front of people who may well be offended, is not particularly kind.
