At 11:37 am this morning, I received an email from USC professor of law, Susan Estrich.
After hearing Estrich discuss her new Hillary book with Sean Hannity on October 11, I was a little upset. Estrich was essentially calling our friend Juanita Broaddrick a liar. She had spoken with her friend Bill Clinton, and, of course, Bill denied that he raped Juanita. That was good enough for Estrich. Bill could lie to his wife, lie to his daughter, lie to his attorney, lie to his secretary, lie to reporters, lie to his cabinet, lie to the court, and lie to the American people while pointing his finger at us, but by some cosmic mystery that is beyond human comprehension, Bill would not lie to her. Okay then. So, Juanita was not telling the truth. She is a liar. Unfortunately, this teacher of law students, this officer of the court, this person who purports to be so fair and open-minded, had not heard the other side of the story. She has never spoken with Juanita. Yet, Juanita is a liar. A known liar and perjurer told her so. Well, something needed to be done about that.
An initial conversation was held with Ms. Estrich's secretary at USC inquiring about the willingness of Estrich to speak with Juanita if it could be arranged. That was followed up with an email.
Juanita then contacted me through FReepmail with the good news -- she wanted to meet with Susan. She had some things she wanted to tell her. Certainly, Estrich, as a fellow rape survivor, would be interested in speaking with Juanita, right?
Another phone call and email to Estrich's office gave her the good news. Apparently, it was not very good news to Estrich. Here is the email received from her this morning ---
What? She is not interested? A fellow rape survivor wants to speak with her after comments were made on a radio show and Estrich is not interested?
If she were honest, rather than merely being a Bill Clinton sick-o-fant, here is the email she should have sent to me ---
If anyone is interested in taking some action, I would appreciate your help. Until Estrich speaks with Juanita and hears her story, why would any talk show host on our side have the sick-o-fant on the air to sell her book? If you participate on blogs, please spread the word.
We all know why Estrich won't meet with her. She is afraid to hear the truth. If she heard the truth, it would be an incredible moral dilemma. How does a rape survivor side with a rapist against a fellow rape survivor and dare show herself on television ever again?
Just imagine her course of action had the rapist been named Newt Gingrich, Tom DeLay, Dick Cheney, Karl Rove, or George W. Bush.
Susan, I once had some respect for you when you and I had good discussions on your Los Angeles weekend radio show. Now, the sight of you and the sound of your voice simply make me ill. You are a phony.

How could she support Hillary if she knew the truth? Oh, that's right. She's a DemocRAT. Never mind.
We can't be saying we believe Juanita but don't believe Susan. I don't have anything to make me not believe that Susan was also a victim.
1. I remember when this story was hot. I was reading a lot about it and following the TV interviews. I concluded that our President was a rapist. The evidence is overwhelming. Particluarly the statements of her family and the roomate at the conference.
2. Estrich should be held to the fire on this. She has, to some degree, used rape as a badge of courage and source of credibility. It is absolutely outrageous for her to turn a blind eye to a victim.
3. I think as a poster above pointed out, she doesn't want to believe it's true, so she has no choice but to avoid it.
What do you want to bet that she'd be chomping at the bit to 'discuss' the situation if someone accused President Bush of the same thing.
Well, what evidence do we have that Susan is telling the truth? The rapist was never found. Maybe the "good" girl was having a little fun with a guy she knew and afterward she got scared she might get pregnant, so she cried rape. Odd that the cops could not find the rapist. What kind of description did she give them? Hummmmm? I think maybe if several of us send Ms Susan e-mails concerning our difficulty in believing her "story", maybe she will catch on to how Juanita feels about being called a liar.
Sure, but I think an even bigger motive for Estrich is that if Hillary is elected president, Susan could expect to receive a high government appointment. I don't know that Hillary would actually appoint her Attorney General or Solicitor General, but perhaps Deputy AG, a Court of Appeals judgeship or a US Attorney might be realistic.
And good on ya' Doug, for all you're doing.
You're right, John. It is about the presidency. Susan knows the damage this could do to Bill and to Hillary. She can't let it happen. Maybe Susan envisions being the next AG, following in the footsteps of the well-respected Janet Reno.
Nan, I won't question Susan's claim because I don't want Juanita's questioned.

Dick Morris Doesn't Want To Take Susan Estrich On
Susan Estrich appeared with Greta Van Susteren tonight to plug her book, A Case for Hillary and Greta mentioned that Dick Morris won't appear with Susan Estrich to discuss their dueling books. Morris just came out with Condi vs Hillary. Greta told Estrich. "I think he's afraid of you" and then made a bold and taunting announcement in a half teasing tone.
" Let it be known. Dick Morris doesn't want to take Susan Estrich on." 10/14/05
i was raped when I was twelve. I'm now forty seven. I have just recently felt a need to confront my rapists. There is no standard reaction to rape.
Juanita did not repeatedly claim nothing happened. She never wanted to come forward. That is why she naively signed an affidavit in order to stay out of court and not be put through the pain again in public. She told people contemporaneously about what happened to her. Her roommate came back to the room after the rape. There was only one man who had been in that room -- the attorney general of Arkansas.
"Impeachment mess" -- that is what you think it was? The man who was the chief law enforcement officer tried to deny a woman her day in court. He committed perjury and suborned perjury in an effort to fix a federal sexual harassment trial. Evidence was destroyed and witnesses were intimidated. I find it hard to believe you are someone who has been here since 2000.
I agree with your post # 138 also.
So far, we are on the same page in the same book.
Please stop making the comments you are making about rape victims. This thread has the potential to be very important. Thanks.
