You catholics can have the supreme court, as long as we get to keep the presidency. :)

Graham said yesterday on TV that Alito would be a great pick. We're ok with him. We need to get on DeWine, however.

We need to stay strong and united. It's time to give one of our Evangelical friends the nod. Let's hope Ginsburg or Stevens retires soon and President Bush can nominate a real Fundamental, Bible Believing Christian.

I'm an Evangelical Christian and I can tell you that it doesn't matter at all to me that there are no Evangelicals on the courts. Scalia, Thomas, Roberts and now Alito are all fine with me!

Actually, exploding heads over there leave almost no residue.

Just a loud hollow "POP"!

Kristol on Fox saying he likes Alito "very much" and mentioning he had always put him in his top five. "An awfully impressive pick." "A very strong pick."

You can bet the liberals are going to start digging with every resource to find any connection, of any of his family, starting with his father's entry to this country, with the that Italian Club.

all those OTHER Donner Party jerks will agree with ME ME ME!!!
Donner Party: Kennedy, Clinton, Dean, Schumer, Reid, Schumer, Rangel, Rev.Jackson, etc,etc.........
Looks like a good pic to me on the surface. I hope that Harriet Meiers will continue on as WH Councel and that Alito sticks to the Constitution if confirmed.

You are asking me to give Bush credit for the Alito Pick? When that pick really should be credited to true conservatives through their backlash of a lame pick? Really? No way, Miss Marple. Bush needs to stand on his own and give us some REAL conservative direction on his own.

So, don't give Bush credit, DTOM. Nobody cares.

I was an anti-anti-Miers man and am now a pro Alito man. What bothers me is how are Miers opponents going to tell the Dem's that he deserves an up or down vote without being laughed out of punditry.

Alito's majority holding in ACLU v Schindler

He'll do very nicely.

And I've worked for lawyers many, many years and I think it does matter. But I'm sure it could have been a worse pick. The best judges I've seen have had lots of private experience but I guess Bush can't please everyone nor should he try. If Concerned Women are happy, that's all that matters.

FYI, Kristol is on Fox & Friends. He likes Alito. Very much. Thinks he is "high quality". Thinks this is the start of a recovery for W.

Of course, this is what he thinks TODAY....

Oh, no! It's a dark day (sarcasm). Now, the dims will be forced to filibuster. Frist will be forced to invoke the "nuclear option". Filibusters as they have evolved into the farce they are today will be a part of history. :)

I WAS WRONG, this nominee is a great improvement over Harriet Miers, on paper at least.. I still believe many showed poor judgment in the method in which the way our President was openly so criticized for his initial choice.

Yeah, much better to have W go uncriticized and Miers get on then to have the Presdent's feelings hurt and Alito get on.

Bill Kristol likes this pick .. says it's a very strong pick

Though he does think Alito will get 35 votes from the Senate against him because he is a conservative
