news says the DNC will fight this because he is TOO conservative

Well then impeach Ginsberg and Stevens because they are too Marxist.

Notice how the MSM (even FOX News) calls Alito a "replacement for O'Connor".

What a lie! Alito would be a replacement for Rehnquist. Roberts was picked to replace O'Connor then Rehnquist died. The probable moderate Roberts replaced the Marxist O'Connor. Alito is replacing Rehnquist.

The reason why the MSM wants to keep saying this is a replacement for O'Connor is that it draws a starker contrast and helps boost the RATs case that they will demand another Marxist and Alito is "too conservative". I doubt Alito would be more conservative than Rehnquist. SCOTUS will continue to move left.

Remember according to the MSM Republican Presidents must only nominate "moderates" while Democratic Presidents can nominate folks even to the left of Lenin.

My understanding, from all accounts (not the Rats) is that Roberts was, in fact, replacing Rennquist, not O'Connor, post-death. Had he replaced O'Connor, he would have required two senate confirmations to move to Chief Justice from replacing O'Connor; O'Connor agreed to stay while the President continued to look for someone (Miers) to replace O'Connor.

No, he's replacing O'Connor, who is still on the court.

I agree 100%. Roberts is the probable moderate here, with not much of a record, and picked to replace O'Conner. Alito is arguably the replacement for Rhenquist. Thus 1 conservative and 1 moderate are being replaced by 1 conservative and 1 moderate. DIMS SHOULD BE THANKING GWB for his generosity. I hope we don't forget to drive this fact home in our discussions with the less enlightened. Conservative guests appearing in the media need to bring this point up!
