Daschle Calls for U.S. Troops to Withdraw From Iraq
AP ^ | November 2 2005 | Mary Clare Jalonick

Posted on 11/02/2005 4:59:54 PM PST by jmc1969

The South Dakota Democrat, defeated for re-election last November, made the comment in a foreign policy speech set for delivery in Chicago on Wednesday, three days before a planned visit to politically pivotal Iowa.

Daschle has raised his public profile in recent weeks and has not ruled out a presidential run in 2008.

In an advance text of the speech, obtained by The Associated Press, Daschle said terrorism and AIDS had become greater threats under the Bush administration. He accused President Bush of giving rise to "a world opinion that now holds America in lower esteem than ever before."

"Looking at all of these things together, you would have to conclude American foreign policy today is broken," Daschle said.

Daschle proposed a "strategic redeployment" in Iraq that would draw down the first 80,000 of the 150,000 U.S. troops by the end of 2006. That should free up an additional 20,000 troops who could be sent to Afghanistan, he said.

DASHOLE AND THE DEMS ARE HYPOCRITES!!!

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,62513,00.html

"His regime threatens the safety of his people, the stability of his region, and the security of all the rest of us," Clinton said in February 1998. "Some day, some way, I guarantee you, he'll use the arsenal. Let there be no doubt, we are prepared to act.

I know the people we may call upon in uniform are ready. The American people have to be ready as well," he added.

The words came within weeks of Senate Concurrent Resolution 71, co-sponsored by Senate Democratic leader Tom Daschle and a dozen other Democrats.

The resolution condemned "in the strongest possible terms" Iraq's continued threat to international peace and security, and urged then-President Clinton to "take all necessary and appropriate actions to respond to the threat posed by Iraq's refusal to end it's weapons of mass destruction programs."

Among the Democratic co-sponsors were Sens. Patrick Leahy of Vermont, Chris Dodd of Connecticut, Max Cleland of Georgia, Robert Torricelli of New Jersey, Bob Graham of Florida and John Kerry of Massachusetts.

He accused President Bush of giving rise to "a world opinion that now holds America in lower esteem than ever before."

"Looking at all of these things together, you would have to conclude American foreign policy today is broken," Daschle said.

So, Daschle's idea of the proper role of American foreign policy is to give in to the demands of other countries so that they like us, they really, really like us, and has nothing to do with advancing our national security interests, protecting our freedoms and our civilization, or diminishing the threats to the 'free world' from assorted tyrants and barbarians. To think that this small man was once "majority" leader makes one shudder...

All I hear in my head while reading this the parody on Rush's, the "Tom Daschle Show". If you haven't heard it, you are missing some great satire.

Did you know that there is a monument being built to commemorate you just about 20 miles south of me. Right between Custer and Hill City, South Dakota. Sure hope they get it done in my lifetime.

It is being done without my authorization or permission:-)

"The dems have decided to hitch their horse entirely to the Iraq War for 2006."

I remember early in the Kerry campaign people urging him to "run on domestic issues." He couldn't help himself.

Maybe the Dems are listening to their moonbat base, mistaking it for traditional bases.

Little Tommy, you must be this TALL to run for president. We don't need any Napoleon Groanaparts. Would he even carry South Dakota?

He wants to run for President and he can't even win in his own state!

I had the same thought when I read his ridiculous plans. On reflection it doesn't seem to matter to these losers who are so out of touch with reality. Albore & Edwards (who also didn't win their own State) are considering another run. Go figure.

Pinging friends who might need a laugh.

Iraq was involved in the first World Trade Center bombing, Iraq was involved in the bombing of the U.S. Embassy in Kenya, Iraqi Intelligence was involved in 9/11 planning meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Iraq supplied WMD (chemicals) to terrorists in Sudan, Saddam Hussein tried to assassinate Pres. George HW Bush, Saddam Hussein paid "rewards" to terrorist suicide bombers, Saddam Hussein gave the terrorists sanctuary in Iraq after they were run out of Afghanistan.
While the terrorists were attacking U.S. interests around the world, Billy Clinton was getting serviced in the Oval Office. Billy & Hillary undermined the U.S. military and failed to defend the U.S. against its enemies. As George W. Bush has said, the terrorists (with reason) expected the U.S. to roll over and play dead after 9/11 - or perhaps file a law suit in Federal court in San Francisco.

The DemoRats are intellectually bankrupt morons who would abandon Iraq to the terrorists, much the same as the U.S. abandoned the South Vietnamese to the Communists, to be butchered. (The book to read is No More Vietnams, by former President Nixon). Kerry, Kennedy, Reid, Pelosi, etc. ad nauseum, want to ensure that the lives of American soldiers are wasted in Iraq, despite our soldiers' great accomplishments, making a new Iraqi constitution possible. The Jackass Party can't see, or doesn't want to see, that President Bush has liberated about 50 million people in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Jackass Party doesn't want to admit that without President Bush's policy of going after the terrorists wherever the are, the U.S. would have been attacked several more times after 9/11. The Jackass Party is now the major ally of terrorism. The DemoRats are The Enemy Within.

Tiny little "Puff" Dasshole couldn't even get reelected using his corupt Indian Reseration scam in his routine corrupt manner in South Dakota -- what the hell appeal does he think he has outside of his old stomping/cheating grounds?

Dasshole should slink back under the Democrat rock, and STFU.

Political egos know no bounds. Newt is another one. The man doesn't even have a homestate anymore and he's testing the presidential waters. It's downright embarrassing!
