The existence of Santorum proves that you do not have to be as liberal as Spectre to be elected in PA. Therefore, there was no excuse for W not to at least stay neutral in that primary campaign.
I can understand leaving a RINO like Chafee alone as long as he votes with us in caucus. Aren't going to be able to elect anyone more conservative than him there anyway. Ditto for Maine.
But there is no excuse for Spectre, just as there is no excuse for the Ohio GOP Senators or John McCain.
