"Bush needs to learn he gets nowhere by appeasing Democrats."

He is a centrist appeaser. Triangulation plain and simple.

This is intolerable and unbearable. If we lose freedom of speech, the first amendment, we will have to excercise the second amendment. Welcome to the revolution.

I wish the FEC luck. They'll need it. The web is impossible to police. Idiots.

I expect that the DUmmies are exulting over this. They know that it will only be enforced against conservatives, and that it'll be business as usual for them and MoveOn and all the other leftist groups.

The spit in the face of the patriots who founded and maintained this country is coming from its own government trying to protect incumbents while spending our grandchildrens' fortunes subsidizing an ever growing population of parasites.

Using an offshore server to get the views of the people out in the world beats the whiz out of not being able to do so at all!

WEll, for what it's worth, I think Bush has made some mistakes, and this was certainly one of them. He seems to have been advised that he could make himself popular by never vetoing anything. Bad idea, in this instance and several others.

"CFR he was hoping the Supreme Court would do his dirty work"

Sort of like his record spending on social programs is a stealth move to roll back liberalism. Good job, W.

We,as Americans, must defend our constitutionally guaranteed freedoms while they are still here onshore ... not fleeing to some boat out there beyond the 200 mile limit.
Once we've abdicated that, what is to stop a tyranical government from extending the limit to 300 or 700 or 1000 miles offshore? Heck, what is to stop them from patrolling the entire internet via orbiting satellites ???
This is serious stuff, and it isn't useful to just flippantly say "we'll go offshore than" .. it isn't that easy

Not meaning to minimize this at all. I just wanted to state from where the spit on the patriots AND on the constitution is really coming.

Funny thing we can't control a 2,000 mile long border, but claim to be able and willing to patrol all the oceans out to 200 miles from shore. We also have the infrared technology to spot one marijuana plant from 500 feet in the air and spend a lot of time and money doing it, but can't spot a nuke in a shipping container due to manpower and technology constraints. Pure BS if you ask me. Certain people in the government WANT a big attack to use as an excuse to shorting out all civil liberties in this country and begin the great socialist experiment (again).

It's OK ... I didn't mean to hector either.
But since this vote took place (in the USHOR (House of Horrors? :) yesterday, there have been a number of posts here in FR flippantly stating (in a joking manner, of course) about going offshore .. which I think is an absolutely abhorrant approach to the issue, even as a joke it isn't very funny. This is YOUR (OUR) U.S. Government seeking to restrict YOUR(OUR) First Amendment Rights, guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States. There can be nothing flippant or even humorous on this issue, its a serious issue and should be treated in all seriousness by every American. Our fundamental rights are at stake here, as we are all well aware

In the last election, the Swift Vets would have been shut down. Not good.
