Family members are investigating what they consider to be suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of a nursing home patient at the center of a life and death tug-of-war reminiscent of the Terri Schiavo tragedy.
Seventy-nine-year-old Jimmy Chambers died in the early morning hours of Oct. 24 after the tracheotomy tubes that deliver oxygen from a ventilator to a hole in his neck became unhooked. Family members were told Chambers, a resident of the Anne Maria Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in North Augusta, S.C., apparently pulled the interlocking tubes apart.
"We're having it investigated. We're just incredulous," Chambers' daughter, Deanna Potter, told WND in reference to her siblings. "The last time I saw dad he was blowing me a kiss. I blew him one and he blew one back."
The retired dispatcher for Holland Motor Express died approximately 10 hours later. His death certificate indicates he died of "natural causes."
"Apparently, suffocation is a 'natural cause' when you're on a ventilator. We're contesting that," said Potter. "He suffocated. He didn't just pass away. He struggled and fought. And I'm just so angry."
Potter estimates it would have taken 10 to 14 minutes for her father, deprived of oxygen, to fall unconscious, and questions why the nursing home staff didn't come to his aid.
"The oxygen-saturation meter and his ventilator both would have had alarms going off. Four-thirty, five o'clock in the morning you'd think someone would hear this," she added. "That's the thing that really bothers me and makes me suspicious."

For the most part, they turned away, or their superiors spiked any incipient story. But in the crowd of peacefully concerned people demonstrating, they sought out the few. They zeroed in on the very few scientologists, Mikey friends, paid disruptors and malcontents and turned away from the Truth surrounding them.

For years, the media reported Terri’s condition as ‘brain-dead’, even though no such diagnosis had ever been proffered by examining physicians. They repeatedly referred to her as someone on life support, in a coma, terminally ill and dying. None of their descriptions had any basis in fact and they painted a very dismal image for the public to rely upon to form their opinions.

If the msm can form such a tight knit lie about Terri, a virtually unknown ordinary person, one can only imagine what they've spoon fed the nation all these years.

Absolutely true. Knowing the BS they said about Terri, the WOT, and Bush, I've just come to distrust them more than I believe anything they say. For me it almost comes down to that I need proof before I buy into anything these days.

I gently urged her to ditch the living will. It's a dance to try to explain to people what goes on here without scaring them. But, it is scary. When attorneys start calling it Death Central something's really wrong here.
I'll be back here next week. It's time to bake cookies, finish the tree and stuff like that.

Wow, world turned upside down!! Years ago when I was there St. Petersburg was Leningrad and the paper was Pravda, the only one I saw. Hard core commies all, and St. Petersburg Florida was full of good ole American values.

Lovely essay. I have one strenuous objection, when she credits the presstitutes with fair-minded and useful coverage of other stories. But that is just polite blather by her, and she doesn't really believe these are actual journalists.

There were some really warm days at the Vigils in Pinellas Park this spring. Everyone had to take breaks from waiting for the rescue that never came. Nikki was vigilant and gracious every time we met. Nikki even protested in between Vigils in all kinds of weather.
Let's hear it for Nikki and I wish her well in 2006.
