I don't know but the fact that I'm asking the question is telling. Better than the loyalists that ask no questions.
Also telling is the fact that the most conservative commentators in our country had to fight the President for 3 weeks on the Miers nomination before it was rescinded. It was the last thing any of them ever wanted to do.
But Americans who believe in principles over persons need to fight harder during this administration than they/we anticipated.
What troubles me most about the Administration's silence is that is creates the impression that they are ashamed of their principles and feel that they need to sneak their policies in under the public radar instead of fighting for them put in the arena.
That's not the case. We elected them BECAUSE of those principles. They need to hold those principles forth and support them proudly. President Bush didn't get reelected by fooled Democrats so he should stop worrying about the opinions of the left.
