This is the only way most of these bastards get re-elected. If it wasn't for Pork most would be gone. Don't for a moment think that they would change the "rules", JOB SECURITY, no change..

How true, how sadly true. I am convinced that someday the system will collapse under its own weight. It's like a house of cards, you can add to it for a long time but at some point is no longer able to stand. I often wonder if we're not cruising along very close to a financial catastrophe of some sort. Here in Florida we're being told that our property insurance premiums will double or triple as a result of the last two storm seasons. We're also being told that our power bills will go up at least 10% next year as the utilities are permitted to pass along increased fuel costs to us. And then of course there's the cost of energy overall. There has simply got to be a point at which the economy can not absorb increased costs. Frankly, I would have thought the relatively high cost of energy, plus the last two storm seasons following on the heels of 9/11 would have left us in a much worse position that we are.

Let's just hope that I am an alarmist. But I sure would like to find some way to reign in our lawmakers. Government, at all levels, is becoming a monster and the only way to control that monster is going to be to starve it by taking away their ability to tax and spend and borrow and spend. Things like this mult-million dollar "Bridge to Nowhere" in Alaska really get my blood boiling.
