Frankly, that was my first thought. There was nothing in the story that mentions how anyone knew she was kidnapped. What about the other kids living at home? Where were they when all of this happened?
It sounds like she just mad that she couldn't be with her boyfriend and they cooked up this plan together. I would be glad to be proved wrong, but it doesn't seem likely.

I'd be very surprised. They were homeschoolers, the vast majority of which are Christians in our county (Lancaster), so I'd bet they were, too. She was wearing a Pillar shirt- a popular Christian rock band.
Based on recent reports, it sounds like she had no prior knowlege of her lovesick boyfriend's plan. At worst, she seems to be an accessory after the fact.
