European aircraft maker Airbus will pay out millions of dollars to airlines hit by A380 superjumbo delivery delays.
Chief operating officer John Leahy said the group would be paying a "couple of million dollars" in compensation during an interview on Australian TV.
Airbus has said that the plane is running between four and six months behind, with the first delivery now expected to be late next year.
Airbus has secured 159 firm orders for the plane so far.

Didn't see this posted anywhere, but I know the topic generated a lot of interest earlier this year. Maybe this A380 plane isn't getting off the ground as well as they hoped it would.

Every delay just means one more of these albatrosses must be sold for it to be profitable....
By the end of the day, this beast will be lucky to break even.

This kind of stuff should prompt a public apology by boeing and comments of how excellent their foresight s over at airbus.

Airbus is showing the A380 off Down Under. A couple of million is what they will end up paying Qantas for late delivery.

Airbus has secured 159 firm orders for the plane so far.Wonder how many more orders they can expect? Given the Euro-Union work attitudes, plus the fact that "offically" they're already 4-6 months behind.

By the end of the day, this beast will be lucky to break even. What? Are you crazy? This is a "workers-working-together" project sponsored by the united socialist governments of Europe -- it doesn't have to make a profit. That's what the taxpayer are for.

Ordered mine months ago - this is getting to be ridiculous. Perhaps I should have skipped the custom paint and floor mats.

"European aircraft maker Airbus will pay out millions of dollars to airlines hit by A380 superjumbo delivery delays"One way street for the airlines isn't it? I wish I could charge them for all the delays I have experienced in 28 years of air travel.

I should have bought one of those Airbus planes. I could collect the damages for the delay, then sell the plane to someone else who wasn't getting their plane on time and was in a bind.

I'm betting it's more like billions.
