he ought to turn the Vietnam argument around on the Dems - if we simply cut and run, it will be like Vietnam - we'll lose.

Asking question about the bumbleheaded grandstanding move by Warner/Frist-Siganl growing impatience similiat to early '70's debates on Vietnam?

Rummy- wouldn't go down that road myself. War dangerous, heatbreaking thing. Churchill said problem isn't winning war, it's persuading people to let him win the war. Good quote. Free systems allow these open debates and discussions. Factual addition- DOF send dozens of updates, 7 required, ettc...updates on Iraqi security forces..many address what the amendment covers...every right to ask for reports, they send them. Hopes they read them! LOL

Leiberman said it seems to me one of these amendments would send message discouraging troops, confuse Iraqi people. Amendment by Dems defeated, Rummy's respoinse- GOOD. LOL

Rummy lots of confidence in people, confidence in Senate because they represent people, American people have good sense of gravity.

Reporter-let down by intelligence?

Rummy- No intentional mistakes in intelligence, honest mistakes. Feel letdown somehting is inaccurate and imperfect? Would be letdown everyday if so. Tough job, better or worse in previous eras? His guess better than previous eras. More people and more money to improve.

Reporter- WMD not there?

Rummy- Time will tell. We'll learn. Ah-ha! Rummy doesn't accept that there were no WMD or he'd say so.

IMO, the thing that scares the Dems most about this war is the 10,000 plus pages of Iraqi Defense intelligence documents that are still being translated. They are so concerned that if I recall correctly the Dems insisted that these documents be kept out of any new review of the runup to the war. It is not the war that bothers them it is all the other stuff that comes out as a result of fighting. Defund the war and you defund all the other stuff.

I think high profile Dems and their supporters made deals with the devil and will do whatever it takes to make sure these never see the light of day.

all sounds good. the timetable thing aside, he should once again re-iterate that US forces will ramp down as iraqi forces come up to speed. I think the administration has blown it over the past year with the only message being "stay the course". most americans mis-read this, and the media spins that into meaning "nothing is going to change" - which is not accurate.

I wish people would quit using the "no such weapons were found" statement. Weapons, 53 of them including a sarin gas shell were found. The goal posts were then moved to "no stockpiles of WMDs were found or the WMDs that were found were pre 1991. Also the uranium, that we knew about and was under the control of the IEA (until Saddam kicked them out) was also secured.

Ugh. Reporter asking about McCainiac's call for 10,000 more troops.

Rummy- Understandable people differ on number. There ARE 10,000 more than previus operations. Numbers theres are what abizaid, casey and division members decided to recommend to them.

Rummy shushing reporters! LOL

WooHoo! Said this repeatedly, and it hasn't sunk in. He's slapping the dimwit reporters!
