McCormick, an engineering student turned high-tech artist .... the MIT grad ...
McCormick, 29

Was he a student or an alumnus of MIT? If the former, then the next steps should be very easy -- MIT can simply ban methamphetamines and excessive extramarital sex to prevent all future student deaths.

Seven to nine years ago, an MIT freshman died from alcohol poisoning. MIT paid the student's family and promptly instituted rules to prohibit alcohol consumption by students under age 21 and to require school permits (and training and limits to the numbers of bottles) to serve it. Other schools across the coutry adopted similar rules. Notwithstanding the laws and school regulations, underage students have still died of alcohol poisoning at various schools every school year.

In this case they'll probably want to put another ban in place to keep students away from pet stores and dive shops, too. After all, we can't have stupid people hurting themselves, we must protect everyone from their actions, however moronic, because if we don't it'll mean the gene pool loses these budding Einsteins and Salks and Pasteurs...

...or more likely, loses these future Barney Franks and Teddy Kennedys...why do we care if this dipshit offed himself again?
