I was asked to help spread the word on this, and how could I not? The story is absolutely heartbreaking.
Michael Porter was arrested Thursday for the death of his two year old stepdaughter. He is accused of striking the little girl in the abdomen earlier in the week causing blunt force trauma and inflicting deadly wounds.
Kelsey Smith Briggs dies hours before her father was due to return from serving in Iraq.

What can a child possibly due to deserve this abuse. I would hope that the stepfather gets what he deserves. Didn't anyone see it happening. Our prayers are with her, its too bad that she had to die to be safe. What about the mom?

This is a national news story.
America is struggling and this sad story is part of the price that American families are paying to defend ourselves against the terrorists.
It may be trite, but "Freedom is not Free."

Another monster kills an innocent baby. God help us all.

Thanks for posting this tragedy...I have been following this case since October, when Kelsey was killed. She lived in a town just about 5 miles north of us. The local news has been staying on top of this like white on rice, especially the local CBS affiliate (Channel 9 in OKC).
There is no reason that Kelsey should have died. She should not have been placed back in her mother's care in the first place. The kid had two simultaneous broken legs this year...a broken collarbone...more bruises and other injuries than I care to count.
Mommy Dearest is now pregnant again by hubby #2 (the accused) and he is divorcing her.
I feel for the family of Kelsey's father. I can't imagine the hell they are going through right now.
I am so angry about this case I could spit nails.
I can't help but notice that DHS was in on this from almost the start and the little girl still died.
DHS "wasn't sure who commited the abuse" so they left that sweet little angel in harms way.
Yet they have no problem harassing homeschoolers and Christians at the drop of a hat and will make a family's life a living hell if "outside information" says there "might be signs of a problem"...
The whole thing makes me sick.
Oreilly has been doing an ongoing expose about child abuse and how state workers seem ot ignore evidence of such abuse and how the perpatrators of such abuse seem to get off easy in many cases so I sent him some of the links to this case in the hope that he makes this case part of his investigation and pressures the state of Oklahoma to take this seriously.
