Forgive the vanity, but I just heard that Rep. Jean Schmidt, the newest Republcan congresswoman from Ohio, had to withdraw her remarks in the debate about the bill about withdrawl from Iraq. She was merely quoting a Marine who wrote her and said of Democratic appeaesment "Cowards cut and run. Marines finish the job." Why on earth would she be made to apologize for this? She was not directly calling anyone cowards, but these Democrats are most assuredly that for their emerging cut and run policy on Iraq.
It's amazing, Democrats can make the most outrageous comments attacking the president on the floor of the House accusing the president of lying to get America into war and other such slanders, but Schmidt quotes a Marine far better than any of those low lives on the Democratic side and she's made to apologize?? Nancy Piglosi regularly makes the most ugly and vile accusations against the president and never is she called to account for it.
Amazing, even when the Republicans finally go bare knuckles against these Scumbagcrats, still the Republicans act like wussies and back down from saying what should be said. Heck, what Schmidt said is the least that should be said against these Rats. We should be on the floor calling them seditious liars emboldening our enemies and causing our allies in Iraq to doubt our staying power which will only prolong how long it takes to hand over security to the Iraqis.
Why is it wrong to quote a Marine who is dead-on accurate but okay to take to the floor of the House like Murtha did and give a morale boost to our enemies who today celebrated their big moral and political victories in Congress this week by blowing up Shiites in their mosques and setting off car bombs across Bagdhad. Why is it wrong to call them on this and lay the blood spilt today at their feet? Why is decorum more important than standing up to people bluntly and candidly who advocate for things that will greatly damage American security? Why is it wrong to expose them for what they are but Murtha is worshipped as a hero for giving a tremendous energy boost to our enemies while demoralizing our troops and our allies in Iraq? When will anyone ask Murtha what the cost will be when we're forced to go back into Iraq if we retreat now to end the rogue, Al Qaeda regime that will take over there and turn Iraq into another Afghanistan?
We're living in a topsy-turvy country right now where right is considered wrong and wrong considered right. And we have few moral voices to speak up against it. And when they do, they're swatted down even by members of their own party. Our republic is in jeopardy my friends.
WE need to email/call this Congresswoman and thank her.
Let's roll Freepers
I keep reading it as Mutha. Must be my eyes.
Thanks for the link. That's what we all wanted to see. And no sitting in front of C-Span for hours waiting for the re-play! Thank you.
"Why on earth would she be made to apologize for this?"
I don't see how she could be "made" to apologize for saying that. If she apologized, then it's her mistake, and her weakness. Unfortunately, the current delegation of Republicans is not as strong as it should be.
If someone demanded that she apologize, then she should have turned it around and demanded an apology of that person, on behalf of the US Marines.
"I live in Cincy.... and may have to move to her district so I can vote for her."
I live in Schmidt's district and am proud to call her my rep!
[I spoke with Jean's legislative aid at 5 PM and he indicated that she was 'psyched' and ready to go! Remember, we've lost MANY Marines/soldiers over the last two years and Matt Maupin's family lives in the district -- he's the only MIA in Iraq. Overwhelmingly, the families of these toopers support their Commander in Chief and this war effort!!]
She shouldn't have withdrawn her remarks

I so ab-so-lutely agree. But she was fantastic. All the R's were. I cannot put the contempt I feel for the dms into freep-acceptable language. That Tierney is typical of the dregs of humanity that are stinking up the chamber. The last decent man left Mass. when John Adams died.
And PS: John Murtha is no hawk and he's no hero as far as I am concerned. Here's his noble record. Was he in charge of washing the General's jeep or what?

And they make fun of Delay being an exterminator. At least he worked.
Jean Schmidt is my Congress Critter.
She's in over her head. She does not impress me.

Pelosi more your speed?
Excellent sign material.
"If you are going to believe the biased polling that's out there, then you have something to worry about. "
I am the first to admit that the polling is biased, over-representing Democrats as it does. But even if you eliminate that skew there are still far too many people not thinking and forming the kinds of positions these polls indicate. Even if only 40% of Americans actually think Clinton more honest than Bush, that still indicates our country is in trouble and quickly heading into amorality, just not as much trouble as the biased polls show.
Before long the Democrats will have made the Iraq war into another Vietnam. We can talk until we are blue in the face, but it will not silence the lies, distortions and pure b.s. coming from the anti-war crowd.
The same thing happened in the Vietnam era and all it did was make people think RVN vets were baby killers, heroin addicts and all around losers.
I am not giving up though, because that is what they are trying to get us to do! I refuse to let them get away with their nonsense and defame the men and women fighting for a just cause in Iraq.
People need to wake up and wake up quickly, before this nonsense grows anymore vocal. Our elected Reps need to speak up and not play any games with these DEM libs. We're talking about lives, national security and the future of our value system.
you can worry about everyone else all you want.
I am going to worry about me and my family FIRST.
I agree... Jean shouldn't have withdrawn her remarks! GO JEAN!
"Even though I consider the democratic party to be a communist organizaton I will in the future refer to them as the "Vichy" party, a group of collaborators."
Right after the Dixie Chicks flap a couple of years ago, I was a guest on a radio show in Lubbock. I happened to refer to them as the "Vichy Chicks" then had to explain the reference. A female moonbat from Lubbock's small lefty contingent called in, denounced the analogy, and demanded that the station owners and I be jailed for violating the Chicks' rights.
She could not explain just how this was a violation or what would have happened to my right of free speech in that case.
Amen. She's not allowed to quote a Marine.
Schmidt should have never been forced to apologize. Murtha is the one who should be apologizing.
If I were Schmidt, I would've went to the floor and said, "I'll never apologize for allowing the voice of an American marine fighting in Iraq to be heard in this Chamber."
Why does Jean Schmidt have to apologize and Obey from WI doesn't have to? He opened his remarks by throwing around Murtha's name, too (check for yourself, just saw the replay on CSPAN). RNC, Schmidt, Hastert, ETC need to call for Obey's apology for breaking the same damn rule.
house rules....
Good evening and the very best to you and yours.
