Forgive the vanity, but I just heard that Rep. Jean Schmidt, the newest Republcan congresswoman from Ohio, had to withdraw her remarks in the debate about the bill about withdrawl from Iraq. She was merely quoting a Marine who wrote her and said of Democratic appeaesment "Cowards cut and run. Marines finish the job." Why on earth would she be made to apologize for this? She was not directly calling anyone cowards, but these Democrats are most assuredly that for their emerging cut and run policy on Iraq.
It's amazing, Democrats can make the most outrageous comments attacking the president on the floor of the House accusing the president of lying to get America into war and other such slanders, but Schmidt quotes a Marine far better than any of those low lives on the Democratic side and she's made to apologize?? Nancy Piglosi regularly makes the most ugly and vile accusations against the president and never is she called to account for it.
Amazing, even when the Republicans finally go bare knuckles against these Scumbagcrats, still the Republicans act like wussies and back down from saying what should be said. Heck, what Schmidt said is the least that should be said against these Rats. We should be on the floor calling them seditious liars emboldening our enemies and causing our allies in Iraq to doubt our staying power which will only prolong how long it takes to hand over security to the Iraqis.
Why is it wrong to quote a Marine who is dead-on accurate but okay to take to the floor of the House like Murtha did and give a morale boost to our enemies who today celebrated their big moral and political victories in Congress this week by blowing up Shiites in their mosques and setting off car bombs across Bagdhad. Why is it wrong to call them on this and lay the blood spilt today at their feet? Why is decorum more important than standing up to people bluntly and candidly who advocate for things that will greatly damage American security? Why is it wrong to expose them for what they are but Murtha is worshipped as a hero for giving a tremendous energy boost to our enemies while demoralizing our troops and our allies in Iraq? When will anyone ask Murtha what the cost will be when we're forced to go back into Iraq if we retreat now to end the rogue, Al Qaeda regime that will take over there and turn Iraq into another Afghanistan?
We're living in a topsy-turvy country right now where right is considered wrong and wrong considered right. And we have few moral voices to speak up against it. And when they do, they're swatted down even by members of their own party. Our republic is in jeopardy my friends.
Oh my!!! Just turned it on! This is interesting!! That democrat wouldn't shut up!!
Go Dana!!!
An apology gets more press.
"I apologize for calling the dems cut and run socialists, even though it is clear that this is what they are. I am sorry for saying that dems are yellow-bellied surrender monkeys even though this is exactly what they are proposing. And CNN, you can run this quote all weekend long."
I live in Cincy and the lady hasn't seen a tax increase that she doesn't love...
That Video should be emailed around the Country so that everyone can see what backstabbing cowards are serving in the US Congress on the side of the Left.
Well, just makes it more obvious that cowards use "proceedural rules" to silence opposition and hide from the truth. No real difference from their usual tactics. Shout them down, that's the extent of the DIMs debating skills.
One comment, no matter how correct, does not a good Congresswoman make... she has much to prove to me if she wants to stay in the House...
That is why I quit the GOP and joined the Conservative Party in New Jersey. I know my candidates if they ever became a rep in Congress would have told the House Rules Committee, "Reprimand me, I will not withdraw my comments, freedom over treason, give me my country or give me death!" And my party will back him/her.
To each his own... still loads better than any other repub we got in the senate.
You voted for Hackett ?.....
Saw it. Want the bumper sticker and the t-shirt...........
Know the feeling.
Hoorah.
Murtha, you sleeze bucket EX-Marine, Cowards cut and run. Marines finish the job.
There, Quote me. USMC 73-75
Semper Fi
Make a hole. Here comes a Marine.
I agree, but it doesn't really matter.
It's out there. People know what she said.
They didn't make her apologize, they struck her remarks from the record on a technicallity.
It doesn't matter. It's part of public record if not congress.
I haven't been able to find out but anyone knows how he voted in 1975 to support the South Vietnamese?
................
I had that same thought. That's about the time Kennedy and Kerry were throwing sh!t on the Flag. I'm going to see what I can find out and will let you know.
Re: the Viagra. I think its too late for that. Way too late.
OOOhhhRRaaahhhhh! :-)
Jean Schmidt was a neighbor of mine until I moved to another neighborhood about 18 months ago. I am completely familiar with her career in politics.
She had a great moment yesterday which I totally applaud. However, IMHO she is in over her head. I'm all in favor of citizen legislators. She is not one. She is a career politico and her goal is to stay in Congress as long as she can. That is not a citizen legislator.
She was in over her head in the Ohio State Senate (where she voted for tax increases for her pal Square Bob Sponge Tax Taft). She barely held off a democrat challenger in one of the reddest districts in the nation.
She is in over her head. She'll be eaten alive in D.C.
I reiterate my point - she does not impress me.
You can't unring a bell. She said what she said. She made her point, and quite cleverly. The apology was a formality. I am glad to see the GOP taking off the gloves. FINALLY.
No, Mike Pence is definitely more to my liking.
Look, Jean Schmidt had a great moment yesterday. I applaud her for that.
However, when she was in the State Senate she voted FOR tax increases and backed Square Bob Sponge Tax Tafts horrid plans, tax increases and anti-business initiatives. She was defeated in her first shot a re-election.
She barely held off a democrat in her run for Congress in one of the reddest districts in the Nation.
No, she does not impress me. I only voted for her to keep the seat in the hands of the GOP. I voted for a better qualified Republican (Brinkman) in the primary. I'll vote for the better qualified Republican in the next primary too. She represents my district. I'm entitled to my opinion based on my observations of her muddling career.
She does not impress me.
