If I remember correctly at the time of the invasion there was no sign of the Officer Corp or for that matter the any of the Iraqi army in any significant numbers.

It was only afterwards when the insurgence began they started to appear and many of them proved to be no friends of the west.

IMHO one of the reason why the training (in some peoples minds) is taking so long that one has to make sure you are not training a terrorist instead of military man who believes in freedom for all.

Not tinfoil anymore. The M&M float crash ignored Thanksgiving by NBC adds them to the current list of so-called news organizations who misreport or ignore news.

Timmy is trying very hard to prove that the Administration lied and misled.

Agree, Tim's biasness is overt.

Russert has become darn near unwatchable. Not sure I'm going to make it through the entire show this morning.

OK, now Biden is trying to say that only Cheney lied, the President "mis-led".

Levin and Wallace talked so long, I think Lugar went to sleep. He did not seem to be aware of his surroundings or his task. Maybe he was in shock that an interviewer actually asked a democrat hard questions.

Tim just let slip in asking Biden: "only six read it" refering to the intelligence report!

Which six senators actually took the time to read it? I guess only Tim knows and we never will!

Lugar seems well past his prime and more interested in getting along than in accomplishing anything.

What happened to Must-See TV? Looks like NBC is Must-Biden TV. And he's on Chrissy Matthews all the time too.

Lugar joins Pat Roberts in the gelding-division.

Viet Nam redux.

I wouldn't dismiss the Vietnam comparison out of hand. At least the Dem meme that Iraq is like Vietnam.

Anecdotal story. Daughter comes by yesterday, towing along my beloved granddaughter and two young teens related to her husband.

She comes in breathlessly and says "Mom, I'm trying to teach them history. They think Iraq was like Vietnam. Why did we go into Vietnam?"

Now these young teens, freshly American, keenly fashionable, are somehow buying this Iraq and Vietnam thing. My daughter, who's only 29 but more on top of news than most due to my big mouth, had no info to offer to counter their claim.

Worst of all, -I- had no lengthy diatrabe to explain.

This is because back during Vietnam I didn't know anything. Back then we had Dan Rather and Walter Conkrite and no other news source. Back then the congress critters were running the war, something that should not be allowed. Back then our mission to help the Vietnamese to avoid Communist takeover was never made clear to the public. Back then there was a horrific draft that ruined my first marriage and left me carrying a bitterness for many, many years. I marched and protested and carried candles in the rain.

Now that I'm older, now that there's an Internet, now that there's talk radio, I've learned so much. I especially despise that I've been lied to for so many years.

So this Vietnam issue and comparisons, it might work.

Because too many people just didn't understand Vietnam.

Does anybody doubt that had there been an information atmosphere like there is today that Vietnam would have ended quite differently? So how to explain it to our children?

snugs, the leftist media hopes to push the nation to the left, which is why they always support any liberal Repubican over any conservative one. All this is nothing more than wishful thinking by the media, and another reason people are not trusting their reporting.

I always figured Lugar was that way...I'm very surprised to know Pat Roberts is that way too.

Great stuff again here anita!
On Hugh Hewitt's site that you quote here are the top pollers"
1. Rudy--27.5%
2. george allen at--19.8%
3.newt --13.2%
4.romney --9.3
5.undecided--8.8
6 mccain at 5.1%!!
The above proves how the msm spins and lies.Anything for their particular choices. Truth mean little to them. A conservative blog like Hewitts is much more representative than whatever bogus stats Russert et all used if they did anything other than just make stuff up.

Oh, also in your Hewit poll there was a "fantasy" vote, if you could have anyone you wanted. It went like this

condi-38.9%!!!
rudy--9.9
Bush, Cheney, allen, Thompson, Romney then mccain at 2.8%!!
This is even more revealing showing how little mccain is liked among conservatives. "No" surprised here for those well informed and not listening to msm drivel/koolaid.

Democrats lie. They don't want more troops in Iraq, they want the issue of being able to say "I told you so" as a campaign issue.

Meet the Press has abandoned any pretense of balance and is after the Bush Administration 24/7. Four libs in a round-table and Warner the Rino because Tim can't afford to have the President's message sounded at any time.
