I'm saying fight like heck for Tancredo if that's who you want in the primary process. I'm from Iowa and have quite a bit of power in determining our next nominee and I do not have a horse in this race, yet. It won't be Tancredo. It will be a conservative. But I will be supporting the Republican nominee in the general election.
I was a Forbes supporter at the caucus. I was not crazy about Bush but by golly, when it was over, Bush was far superior to Gore.
That's what I'm saying. After the primary process is over, we coalesce around our nominee.
We ended up with RINO Ganske running against Harkin. I couldn't stand Ganske but he was better than Harkin so I held my nose and voted for him.
Cong. Tancredo is as conservative as any of the potential Republican candidates for president in 2008.
On May 3, 2005, Cong. Tancredo received one of the "Best & Brightest" awards from the American Conservative Union (ACU). The ACU recognized those members of the U.S. Congress who recorded a perfect score of one hundred percent (100%) in the ACU ratings. Here is a link to the ACU's web page with photos of May 3, 2005, ceremony at which the "Best & Brightest" awards were given: http://conservative.org/pressroom/bestbrightest.asp . The ACU ratings are based on how representatives voted during twenty-five (25) votes. Cong. Tancredo achieved his perfect score with none of the votes having anything to do with immigration.
In March 2005, Cong. Tancredo received the "Taxpayers' Friend Award" from the National Taxpayers Union (NTU). According to the NTU, Cong. Tancredo was given an "A" rating by the NTU for being one of the strongest supporters of responsible tax and spending policies in Congress. Here is a link to the NTU's list of "2004 Taxpayer Friends": http://www.ntu.org/main/page.php?PageID=75 . Cong. Tancredo ranked twelth (12th) highest in the entire House of Representatives in NTU's ratings.
Cong. Tancredo is strongly pro-life. Cong. Tancredo was rated 0% by NARAL in December 2003. Here is a link to a website that provides a list of ten (10) votes by Cong. Tancredo'on the subject of abortion: http://www.ontheissues.org/House/Tom_Tancredo.htm . It also provides a list of votes on many other subjects.
The National Right to Life Committee's website lists Tancredo Cong. Tancredo as casting twenty (20) votes related to abortion during the 106th Congress (1999-2000). I'm concerned with elected officials that are charged with protecting this nation's borders that are "far too cozy" with Vicente Fox. I find it "offensive" that more than four years after the attack by Islamic terrorists on this nation that killed approximately three thousand people, this nation's borders have still not been secured. In fact, the lack of enforcement of this nation's borders is disgraceful.
Many Tancredo detractors enjoy engaging the speculation that he will run as a third party candidate for president. I would like for those Tancredo detractors to present any proof that Cong. Tancredo is considering running for president on a third party ticket.
As for Pat Buchanan, Cong. Tancredo has significant differences with him on the subject of Israel and the conduct of the war in Iraq. Further, Pat Buchanan publicly supported the re-election of President Bush in 2004.
I'm glad Cong. Tancredo has not been a "team player" with regard to President Bush's policies regarding illegal aliens.
