Some interesting and some not so interesting. The 68 democrat convention makes an appearance twice.

There is a case for many to be moved up or down. I was never a Newhart watcher, but was aware of it. I just happened to stumble across the show when it was airing its final episode. I have to admit, it was pretty darn funny and a big surprise.
Sport is an easy one, as it is unscripted, so there are always surprises in it. I like the Hogan's Heroes thing at 100. That is rather odd that 25 years after the fact, that we could make fun of Nazi POW camps. I can't imagine a sitcom now about the Iranian Hostage sitch.

Interesting that 3 of the top 20 were about the series being a dream.

And an even more unexpected tv moment for Hollyweird is that I find too few of those interesting enough to watch.

They pegged it right about #1. Absolutely, by far and under no shadow of doubt the funniest minute of TV ever...I mean EVER.

Wait, the Spanish Inquisition isn't on the list.
Must be an oversight.

I read the beginning of this the other day in TV Guide. #1 was right there on the first page of the article.
The article made no sense though. Some of them were truly unexpected moments. Others weren't "moments" at all, just things that were stuck in there for little reason other than to fill out a list of 100. A "moment" shouldn't be a season of a show or the fact that a show ever aired (either once or more than once or weekly or whatever) or what happened to people (or didn't) after they left the set.
Odd list. Not worth much. But happily, they had the right #1, but it doesn't make sense unless you know about some of the others on the list.

24 THE LATE SHOW WITH DAVID LETTERMAN DREW BARRYMORE'S TOPLESS BIRTHDAY SALUTE. (4/12/95)
I was watching Letterman that night.
This deserved to be way, way higher than 24th. Should at least be ranked in the top 10!!!

Hi Dane! Back again, huh? Where on that list is Bill Clinton sitting on a stool, drinking a coke and lying to the court about his criminal activities, knowing the Republicans would save him from being impeached in the Senate?

...TWIN PEAKS FIRST APPEARANCE OF THE DANCING DWARF...
This was of interest to me and caused me to wonder if the Twin Peaks Dancing Dwarf was related to the one on Allie McBeal.
Sorry to interject this but it did crossmy mind. I hope I can sleep tonite with out wondering.

I agree with #1, #2 should have been the St Elsewhere finale. Totally unexpected.

Jim Carville putting a trash bag on top of his head?
Judy Woodruff's face almost breaking out into tears when Florida was called for Bush last year. Oh wait . . . that wasn't unexpected.

87 DAYTIME EMMYS SUSAN LUCCI WINS EMMY AFTER EIGHTEEN LOSSES. (5/21/99) That was 'unexpected'?! The media had hyped her losing streak so loudly and so often that the dear girl was a shoe-in that year. They didn't dare box her out again.

How about the first or maybe the second Fraiser where Daphnie asks why they call the dog "Eddie spaghetti? She says Oh, does he like pasta?" and Martin says "No he has worms" a classic!

It think they forgot what should be #1: THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES TAKING TV TIME TO TELL US THAT HE DID NOT HAVE SEX WITH THAT WOMAN, MONICA LEWINSKY. I think that's a little bigger than some of the top five moments listed here.

How did they miss the Carson show with Ed Ames, where Carson threw the hatchet at the sillouette and hit it in the jewels area with the hatchet stuck up in the air. Had to be the longest laugh on TV!
To: Dane
this doesn't make sense. #1 should be watching live coverage of the North Tower burning when suddenly you see the airplane heading for the South tower....was anything so unexpected or memorable for a TV moment?
Or how about watching Oswald killed on live TV?
How soon we all forget...
