Good news about the conspiracy charges, but the money-laundering one is a felony. I'm surprised that the judge let that one stand, because it's just as baseless. I wonder how long it will take for this to go to trial? I really wanted all of this stuff out of the way so DeLay could reclaim his rightful position in the House.

I like Ronnie Earle, Police Chief of Neuvo Laredo.

Be interesting to see how he handles the Zetas...

Unfortunately DA's have blanket immunity for prosecutorial misconduct.

Shouldn't that be changed?

That charge and the violation of Texas election law charges stand. I think the dropped charges were throw aways in the first place. It's the prosecutor's way of pleading with a judge "you threw out some of my charges. At least give me something."

Has Pelosi's head exploded yet?

Oh they will be in full spin mode, "Republicans are party of corruption, crooks go free under Bush Admin, yada, yada".

Is that the same Judge Napolitano who recently emphatically stated that a school violated the free speech rights of students when it prevented the high school paper from running a lengthy and graphic story on all kinds of birth control devices?

He can be an idiot at times.

Yes he can, can't he. I sure hope he was wrong about DeLay. Levin had one of DeLay's lawyers on, and these motions are far from over.

Just like the Plame investigation, no original crime.

>p>How the hell can you launder money via check??

How can you launder money on something WITHOUT conspiracy present? Just seems to me that if the conspiracy gets thrown out, the money laundering did not in fact occur.

Great! On Monday afternoon 144 hrs away until the sunday news shows 1 major charge dismissed. Guess the Dem judge was hoping that it'll be yesterday's news by next sunday. Can wait to hear Eleanor Clift's take on it--if the old bag can even remember a whole week back. Or maybe she's swiftly booking an unscheduled vactation.

Did anyone post teh AP article about this subject? Notice, I think they misinformed the readers about the rule that keeps Delay from retakng his leadership seat. The stated that it was a "house Rule" when in fact it is a republican rule in the house. Am I correct in this? Here's the link:

Let me know.

Luckily for us the AP isn't a jury of his peers.

You are correct, it's a Republican rule. Only Republicans can vote to make and modify their own party rules. Same situation for Democrats and their rules. The article incorrectly suggests that these rules are for the whole house.

I think eventually this whole case is going to be thrown out. The money laundering charge, currently upheld, which quite frankly brought this case before a jury, is bogus.

Would someone please tell me why FNC never has an attorney reading these decisions?

It is just so hard to find an attorney in New York or D.C.

on Fox news they stated that the money laundering case was very difficult to prove without documents, that ronnie boy apparently does not have, the judge has set high benchmarks for that charge

"[1] At least one motion to dismiss upon the basis of alleged prosecutorial misconduct was filed by Defendant DeLay and is presumed by the Court to have been adopted by defendants Colyandro and Ellis. This motion may require the hearing of evidence (a matter not yet resolved), and it is not included within the ambit of the present rulings. "

It could be that the judge intentionally did not dismiss this charge so that he could rule on the prosecutorial misconduct and nail Ronnie Earle fully for his breach of ethics.

In the few weeks that Hastert has been the SOTH, he has done more to mess with the Dems then Delay has ever done during his tenure. I say keep Hastert.

What are you talking about?

Hastert has been Speaker since 1999. DeLay was Majority Leader. Two different positions.

The guy who (temporarily) took DeLay's place as interim Majority Leader is Rep. Roy Blunt from Missouri. Blunt, the former Majority Whip (which was DeLay's position for years) is okay, but DeLay is still doing much of the Majority Leader work.

Only if they are Republicans. Democrats are not held to the same standard.
