Maybe now is the time to reconsider separate girls' high schools and boys' high schools. My mom and aunt went to Girl's High in San Francisco and my uncles to Boy's High. I get the feeling it was something of a privilege, and all got a good education. But then that was back when SF was still sane.
That is just the lyrics of a song and in no way indicative of the sexual attitudes of the 70s.
Boy, that's SOME PDA!
Ticketed???
I graduated H.S. in 1987
I remember an incident where a pair of students were busted for having sex but they tried to hide it by doing it down by the school football/running track behind some trees and bushes.
But the rumor that these two we doing this regualarly had been spreading around the school for about a month.
Our group of friends used to hang down by the blechers during lunch hour and I remember seeing those two walking past us a few times to go to that area. I had a feeling something was going on.
I think the school officials must of gotten word this was happening because one day, two of the school security busted them in the act and this area was a really out of the way area of the school that nobody went to or you ever say guards patroling.
They were suspended for a short period of time and came back to school. I remember we didn't think it was that big of a deal.
This was back in 1987. These types of incidents didn't make front page news back then.
If he's 19 and she's 17, the police should arrest and charge him for statutory rape. Why hasn't that happened?
No. It's not like she is the only girl in the school that isn't a virgin. Parents are always the last to know, but fellow students know.
Perhaps your town was looser than mine. We were not angels, but we had a sense of right and wrong that was vastly more developed than kids these days.
It's Nebraska. What else is there to do there?
"These are tomorrow's mothers"
They are probably today's mothers
In most states, it's not statutory rape if there is less than a 3 year age difference.
He wasn't. He and his "partner" snuck in from outside.
They got ticketed for having sex? Ticketed?
Very strange. They should be ticketed for being 19 years old in high school. I was in graduate school at 19.
How many grades do you have to stay back to still be there at 19 or do "tickets" keep you back?
And who would want to "get ticketed" with someone who is dumb as a box of rocks? So many questions.
You believe that the 70s were a time of sexual purity? You must have lived in a town like that depicted in Footloose.
Easy sex was a hallmark of the 70s. To use your examples, listen to "Life in the Fast Lane" by the Eagles. That is far more representative of the sexual attitudes of the 70s.
Of course, smaller towns will always be more sexually conservative than larger metropolitan areas. It's not as much a function of the times, but if a person grows up in a rural or urban setting.
Even in rural settings, the corn fields get used for far more than just farming - even though parents are the last to know.
Me neither. Any girl like that would get called a slut and in those days that was sn uncool thing to be.
In most states, 17 is 'legal'.
Nowadays it can ruin your reputation if it gets around that you aren't one.
There's a difference between not being a virgin and putting on a sex show for the student body. I bet most people can think back to their h.s. days and remember who was considered the biggest slut.
