And being a DC area native I can say that there is a pattern: They want to have the local government that actually let them down preserved and subsidized by everyone else in the country. Furthermore, they want the victim mentality that made them more vulnerable to be kept intact also.

Under no circumstances do they want to consider reviewing their own responsibilities in how their reaction may have made a difficult challenge from Nature into a hideous, embarrasing display of stupidity and self-indulgence.
