"As a liberal and educated 20-something, I often wonder what happened to the boomers of my parent's generation... I have met so few boomers that have held fast to the values of peace, love and harmony...
Maybe because more of them went to 'Nam or went to class instead of protesting.
The biggest myth out there is that every boomer was a Woodstock wannabe hippie who was out protesting everything. The fact is only a very tiny percentage of boomers ever protested anything except maybe having to watch Lawrence Welk. Most were straight-ahead types who got jobs, got married, and got on with their lives...just like their parents.
Or they were like my older bro who went to Nam, came back and got his college degree, and became a hospital administrator. The myth of the Nam vet as a mental case is also a huge myth. All the Vietnam vets I know are very well adjusted and very successful. That goes for the ones who saw plenty of combat, like my brother.
