Cops favor using the hollow-point bullets because they are less likely to pass through a target and ricochet into a fellow cop or bystander.

Which is why they are a favored choice for home defense use as well.

Agreed! My .357 is loaded with brass tipped hallow point Dots (I think that is the name). I spent the rdiculous amount because it was advertised to not overpenetrate. If I have to defend myself in my house or a convenience store, I do not want overpenetration (unless I can line the bad guys up.)
