Yep. This was my favorite gem in the article:
I’m talking about the creepy way that our Iraq disaster resembles the Athenian invasion of Sicily.

He either did not read the book, or Thucydides's account, or anyone else's to come up with that one. The Sicilian disaster does not resemble the Iraq war at all, and unlike the Athenians, we are winning this one.

His main problem is because he knows VDH as a polemicist via National Review Online, he does not realize that is his hobby and a sideshow, and in real life VDH is a classical historian and professor, for whom the greeks come first. I also love the non sequiter that Athenians can't possibly be like us because they did things that were wrong. Like we never do...
