Chilling call to arms via SMS

TEXT messages on seized mobile phones have revealed calls for Arabs to unite in a war against "rednecks" and to "take Sydney from Cronulla to The Rocks".

Police yesterday used new powers to confiscate mobile phones, to check for SMS messages calling for violence.

Police Commissioner Ken Moroney said his officers were yesterday specially instructed to target mobile phones, after text messages were used to urge race violence at Cronulla.

One officer was photographed scrolling through the contents of at least six phones.

Five men of Middle Eastern descent were yesterday arrested in Brighton-le-Sands after their mobile phones were confiscated and found to have messages that incited violence. Among the many phones confiscated yesterday one contained a text message which said: "Wake up, wake up oh lion of lebanon. Retaliate, take action ... Show them we have awoken we will meet at Brighton and together exterminate the enemy of Cronulla. Send this to every lion of Lebanon."

 

Another said: "My Arab soldiers don't let no one hold you down, run amok and take the town. The skip b...... are scared. Leb pride about to take Cronulla tide. We will take Sydney from Cronulla to the Rocks with our AKs and our Glocks."

Another was a call for war.

"Arabs unite hold hands, together as a team we will take their land, arm up Arabs and get ready for war, put these (expletive] down to the fall as we stand tall and raise our flag among them all, they call for war and we answered back all our soldiers are ready to attack."

Mr Moroney said the maximum term for threatening material in a message is 10 years.

As is to be expected, almost all news reports pertaining to these current troubles lay all the blame on 'white racists' while oftentimes never even mentioning any Arab or Muslim perpetrators.  Having visited Australia and New Zealand and from having numerous Aussie and Kiwi friends for decades, my impression is that a whole lot of media bias is at work here, as such behavior is completely outside of what I've come to expect from the Australian temperament.  I'm hoping that Aussie FReepers will not be too worried about their great country being unfairly tarred with this 'racist' brush as the media is trying to do, as I believe that most people who are even halfway awake will be able to see right through all this.  We all know that Australians are generally WONDERFUL people who have nothing they need to be ashamed of.

Throwing these riotous slime in the tank for a decade is not a bad start. Shall Islam force the West to ban it? It is up to Islam to decide. I've always wanted to visit Australia...

I found it to be an absolutely wonderful, magical country willed with warm, friendly and generally delightful people.   A visit to Australia is something that I would strongly recommend to all Americans for several reasons....it's VERY different in many fascinating ways from any other place on Earth, you will meet some of the nicest people you have ever met in your life, and you will be giving your hard-earned vacation dollars to a truly honorable nation that has fearlessly stood alongside us in the War On Terror.  Many more reasons abound, and I'm sure other FReepers will be happy to fill in the blanks.

But then, that has little to do with the issue at hand.

Rednecks are up north too, like Maine, Michigan, Illinois, even California and New York, etc. Redneck in todays definition means a certain type of people who are similar in slovenly hygiene, appearance and home clutter, smell.
