You should really post that to the main forum. We have a lot of threads that can be crossed linked into that article.

That has more info in it than just the unions.

I survived two transit strikes when living in NYC. It will be difficult for lots of people who live in the outer bouroughs and out of state.

The contract also requires new hires to pay one percent into their health plans, whereas under the current contract they pay nothing. The final MTA proposal also sought to increase the retirement age for new hires from 55 to 62, but the union wants it lowered to 50.

They pay nothing into their healthplans and they are complaining?! Ha! Ask your average American how much they pay in premiums! And I wonder if the pension fund is beginning to groan from the strain of so many retired workers. Retiring at 50 is simply unrealistic for most people.

Sounds very Communist. Even similar language.

The strikers should light up. That would really send Bloomberg over the edge.

The Mass Strike

http://www.marxists.org/archive/luxemburg/1906/mass-strike/index.htm

The Socialist International actively built political parties in every country, and gained seats in Parliament. It was members of these Social-Democratic parties who built the trade unions and used the strike weapon for both political and economic gains.

Marx and Engels on Communist Organisation

http://www.marxists.org/archive/marx/works/subject/organisation/index.htm

Even though The Communist Manifesto proclaimed a political party of the working class, in reality, until 1864, there were only small communist Leagues and ‘secret societies’ on one side, and more or less non-political trade unions on the other.

The First International

http://www.marxists.org/history/international/iwma/index.htm

The International, was an instrument of class formation, bringing together trade unions, workers cooperatives, small socialist parties and study groups. With such a diverse membership it was never able to make the transition to a party. This role would fall to the Second International, founded in 1889.

Yeah, I say that DU posting is very communistic. Why shouldn't be. That is what Unions are.

The other day I had a troll accuse a beloved freeper--with heaps of indignation--of being stupid because she supposedly had "mispelled" so many words.

LOL

One almost unbreakable law is that a message criticizing the grammar or spelling of another poster will contain at least one error.

Still, it's always fun to point this out to the poster. It has happened to me.

I hate it when I break the rules. LMAO, yeah, I've done that! It's amazing how a little agitation can destroy 16 years of educational training.

Also, 24% salary increase over 3 years, not getting much sympathy with the public. When was the last time most workers received an 8% increase in 1 year! Not in this household!

Also applies to ad-hominem phallus banter that equates to a sub-human rebuttal for a lack of synaptic activity.
