I understand that
Aliens was declared "Culturally Significant" by an act of Congress, and that some movie bigwig person (forgot who) declared it "the best pure action movie ever."
Alien fell more squarely into the "horror" genre than Aliens did; it was more of a backing-up-into-a-dark-hallway kind of movie than Aliens was. The second was more action than horror.

I don't know if Aliens is culturally significant, but I would watch it again in a heartbeat: pure adrenaline.

A bit of
Aliens trivia for you:
What 80s actress was the original choice for the role of Ripley in the Alien movie?
HINT: She was the Girl from Uncle
Answer: Stefanie Powers. Ridley Scott decided to cast a relatively unknown actress in the role instead. World, meet Sigourney Weaver.

So confirm for me. Is this why so many guys love chicks who wear tanks and bikinis?

Some would probably bristle at the mention of it, but Passions of the Christ could well qualify in the horror genre with the torture and crucifiction, although that was not the intent of Mel Gibson in the making of the film.
