"They are in enormous trouble and don't realize it. I can't wait to see their reactions when they are charged and indicted."

I pray you are correct, but I am not going to hold my breath.

Probably. They can't afford to break ranks on this one.

My husband at one time worked at TRW Space and Defense as an IT tech. Yup, he needed clearance.

Mind set is correct. I think they all are mind controlled zombies...they all think only one way...they don't have the ability to think for their selves, someone has to get that PACK OF RABID LOONS going into one direction. It's amazing how easy that is to do. If I visit a loon web site, my mouth falls open and my head starts shaking back and forth with disbelief...how wild this pack of rabid dogs are.

So did the leaks come from Congress, the Pentagon, or the deep dark bowels of the CIA? Got any suggestions?

My guess is distraught CIA and State Department folks who miss the good old days where they thought they were in charge.

.....It would not surprise me to learn that paper shredders are currently whirring in one or two Senators' offices, and hard disk files are being erased......

Au contraire mi amigo..... a little frogmex lingo there, the investigation was announced after the evidence was collected IMHO.

There is another thread running ( http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1549301/posts ) about the President making a statement at 12:30PM)

The ultimate news story from Fox: (I wish!)

"In the 12:30 news conference today, the President announced that the NSA leaks came from Sen Jay Rockafeller, Sen John McCain, and Congressman John Murtha. The three had been specifically authorized as targets of NSA wiretaps because of suspected activities aiding and abetting the enemy during a time of war. Repeating: The three accused Congressmen were identified in wiretaps, authorized by the President, as passing classified information to the New York Times.

For their part in knowingly publishing the classified information, in spite of pleas from the President, the editor and publisher of the New York Times have been arrested for treason."

I haven't had time to read all of the comments, but I will do so this afternoon. It is interesting that this investigation is announced right before New Years' Weekend. I think they have been planning to investigate this since mid-December, but kept it quiet.

Now that a lot of the Congress (if not most) are out of town, along with staffers on vacation, it will be pretty hard to get an organized resistance/coverup to this investigation. No one is in the offices to shred documents and erase computer files. Phone logs can be demanded without anyone there to hide or revise them. Excellent strategery.

Now I have to leave to take the grandkids home. PLEASE take good notes of the White House comments! Thanks for posting the news.

They can listen to all of the phone conversations coming from my home. I don't care.

All they're going to hear is my wife and her sisters talking about nothing. After listening to their gibberish for about ten minutes, the wire-tappers will all be running for the nearest bar.

You don't go through the process of investigation at the DOJ just for political posturing and bluffing. People are going to be punished.

they left out that whistleblower legislation does not repeat does not apply to national security matters.

Of course they did. Facts and the law are irrelevent to DUmmies when they have themselves convinced Bush will be impeached over this (even though the repubs are in control of Congress). We don't call the posters over at Democratic Underground "DUmmies" for nothing.

"Anyone who believes that guy resigned over a qualm of conscience raise your hand. Because I've got a bridge for sale, cheap."

He was just a mere judge and "IF" he is the leaker he got permission or received orders to do it. No way one little judge leaked this kind of stuff all on his own, no matter if he is getting tipped from the dark side.
