I kinda took the NYT article as a CYA attempt.

Yes I noticed that the article basically was trying to say that the investigation should be on the government not the leaker.

You noticed that too! The whole thing was twisted back on Bush.

The DUmmies are pushing the "whistle blower" excuse also!

I think they are beginning to get a bit dizzy from the spin!

Investigation of the leakers was leaked.....now they have to investigate who leaked about the investigation of the leakers, etc. etc. etc.

Too funny!

So the NY Times is quoting the ACLU in their CYA story. They're definitely scared of where this investigation is heading. James Risen needs to stock up on soap-on-a-rope because he's on his way to prison if he doesn't give up his sources.

Thanks for posting the link to the Slimes 'account'.. I'm reluctant to get my hopes up, eg. Sandy Burglar, but maybe the New Year will finally bring the dirty traitors down.

I noticed that the article basically was trying to say that the investigation should be on the government not the leaker.

The NY Times quotes:

Anthony D. Romero, executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union.

Marc Rotenberg, the executive director of the Electronic Privacy Information Center in Washington

Went onto DU to get a good laugh about this investigation and look what I came across. The DummiesU crowd is attempting to allege that FR is a government sponsored site.

I'm afraid this will be nothing more than Lucy (the Republicans in power) pulling the ball away from Charlie Brown (us-the conservative who voted them into office). This like all of the other false hopes will go nowhere. They are too numberous to list.

This is a post from DU

LOL I suspect they are a troll but it is an intersting point that I don't think has been mentioned here.

In addition to addressing jurisdictional issues and troublesome Federal Circuit precedents, our bill would also make important additions to the list of protected disclosures. First, it would subject certain disclosures of classified information to whistleblower protections. However, in order for a disclosure of classified information to be protected, the employee would have to possess a reasonable belief that the disclosure was direct and specific evidence of a violation of law, rule or regulation, gross mismanagement, a gross waste of funds, an abuse of authority, a substantial and specific danger to public health or safety, or a false statement to Congress on an issue of material fact.

A whistleblower must also limit the disclosure to a member of Congress or staff of the executive or legislative branch holding the appropriate security clearance and authorized to receive the information disclosed. Federal agencies covered by the WPA would be required to establish a process to provide confidential advice to employees on how to lawfully make a protected disclosure of classified information to Congress.

Norah has been subbing for Chrissy...and she is just as bad...she gets down right uppity if a guest dares to make a positive remark about President Bush or his policies...

BTW...I heard Bob Novak on the interview will Wolfie say that he KNEW, without a doubt, that Saddam did NOT have WMDs, and therefore Bush was totally wrong for invading Iraq..

When Wolf asked him how he could be so positive, when Bush obviously was told there were...Novak said his "sources" were better.

Plus, he said that Bush came into office with a foreign policy that was bent on helping Israel...and making Iraq an ally would help in that effort.

Wolf asked if Bush was "fooled" by the WMD report...Novak said that Bush was so determined to accomplish the above mentioned foreign policy, that he maneuvered the evidence around the facts in order to get Congress to go along.

It seems that Novak forgot about Clinton's quotes re: the WMDs that Saddam had...

That interview just solidified my distaste for the man...and gives me one more reason NOT to be happy with Fox lately....sigh
