I should have clarified my meaning. I'm not saying that one shouldn't "plant seeds" - or attempt to reason with people - that's vitally important. I am merely saying that if anyone thinks they can reason people out of opinions that they haven't first reasoned themselves into, they're sadly mistaken. Most people's politics and religious beliefs (or lack thereof) are merely unquestioned reflections of what they grew up with, ie: "It was good enough for my daddy and it's good enough for me."

You might find the article at the link interesting. Another article along the same lines points out how so many of the "faith giants" wear glasses (Creflo Dollar, Paul Crouch, Joyce Meyer, et al.). Don't they have enough faith to proclaim perfect eyesight for themselves?

One wonders how much of the royalties he has shared with his ghost writer. I suppose your point is that he has raked in quite a pile relying on the P.T. Barnum principle: "There's a sucker born every second." So, among the practitioners of that principle he is no doubt taken seriously as an example of great success in roping in the suckers. Granted.

I guess what I was getting at is, given his track record, why he is taken seriously as anything other than a successful flim-flam artist.
