Due to the rush to be first and the bandwagon effect, initial media reports are almost always wrong in some aspects.

Posters at FR always attack the media when the incorrect reports are in opposition to our built in biases. However, many here are quick to back media reports when they favor our position or biases even when the reports are later shown to be incorrect.

The response I usually hear is "well, that's different."

What you are stating is simple human nature,
however I have not seen a trend of FReepers
sticking with a story when it is proven false.

Can the same be said of the MSM (or liberals)?
